WHEN VINTAGE PIECES PARTNER WITH SLEEK FURNISHINGS

AND UNIQUE ARTWORK — LUXURY IS THE END RESULT IN

Artist Juan Genoves’ vibrant striped painting, Lineal, comes alive in the living area as Takahiro Kondo’s Blue Mist Objet, a free-standing lighted sculpture, commands attention as it poses elegantly by the window.

reams really do come true and homeowner Louise

Sunshine can attest to that. Riveted by design team

Carola Pimentel and Andrea Maenz’s previous renovations, she naturally sought them out to complete her own dream.

With glorious views in one of Bal Harbour’s most lavish complexes and with more than 5,000 square feet of space, step one was the expansion. “We combined two apartments into one to promote a spacious setting,” Pimentel says. With a variety of soft colors, vintage pieces and distinctive art, the theme unfolds as a luxurious home with a touch of contemporary flair. “We needed to build a home that would accommodate all of these unique elements,” Maenz says.

The living area has a luminescence of its own — bursting with positive energy. A white Marmorino plaster finish for the walls adds dimension to the room, while a plum-tone silk area rug patterned with a delicate ocean wave by Stark

Carpets adds contrast. “Beautiful transition of colors and textures create an easy and interesting flow,” Maenz says.

In the family room, the lively open cabinetry and shelving, comprised of wood veneer and accented with horn-handles, display true craftsmanship. Across the room, extraordinary views illuminate the space through floor-to-ceiling windows.

perfectly with the retro influence that pervades the home.

Vintage ottomans from Gary Rubinstein reupholstered with white cowhide sit in perfect complement to the three-piece acrylic-based cocktail table by Janette Laverriere. Crisp, white vintage table lamps illuminate the space, where Holly

Hunt’s pewter occasional table makes an abstract impression along with sassy accent pillows.

The family room is a delightful place to relax — especially with its mesmerizing views. “It is a sunrise-to-sunset room with so many different moods,” says Sunshine of one of her favorite spaces. Here, shades of white warm the room with a dynamic mix-and-match approach. The silk area rug by Fort Street

Studio provides an ethereal element adding softness to the room. The designers’ choice of a beige “Tufty-Time” sofa by

B&B Italia — undeniably inviting and rich — complement chrome based, leather swivel tulip chairs that add a dash of

‘70s nostalgia to the mix. The cocktail table brings interest and contrast with its handsome oak wood, burgundy and white mosaic pattern. Juxtaposed with the sofa, vintage glass-top nesting tables convey a touch of history.

The flowing family room opens to a modernized, full-service kitchen. While keeping the existing cabinetry and state-of-the-art appliances, the designers custom designed the breakfast nook shaped with a dazzling white quartz table. Trendy white barstools from Poltrona Frau add a fresh and clean look.

Richard Schultz’s table and chairs from Clima

Outdoor provide for dining alfresco. While yellow, metal-wire chairs offer front view seating to take in the glorious views of Haulover Beach.

With Sunshine’s demanding work schedule, her office area deserved special attention. Italian designer Piero Fornasetti’s eye-catching whimsical theme is tied-in throughout the space, where black, white and shades of gray present an unusual, yet interesting representation of the sun with a scattered pattern on the walls. “It inspires the room and pays homage to the owner’s name — Sunshine,” Pimentel says. The modern white leather sofa bed from B&B Italia captures a playfulness conveyed with retro-inspired accent pillows. A black ottoman serves as a cocktail table with its three-dimensional fabric enhancing the overall monochromatic scheme. “I intentionally created my office space around Fornasetti’s sun-inspired theme — he is one of my favorite designers,” Sunshine says.

With the project complete, a thrilled homeowner and a proud design team marvel at the outcome of the home. With its stunning views of the ocean and the beach beckoning below, the home is truly a collaborative work of art. “It is formal enough for meetings and entertaining, yet informal enough for family enjoyment and relaxation,” Pimentel says.
