We have a variety of drop-in fitness classes to meet your busy schedule! Group Fitness classes are offered at all recreation centers and require Virginia Beach
Recreation Center membership or day pass, in addition to a group fitness punch card, 30 day unlimited pass, or 90 day unlimited pass. Cards and passes can be
purchased at any recreation center.

All centers have a limited amount of equipment available. Participation is on a first come, first served basis. Group Fitness participants must be age 14 or older.
Those age 12 & 13 may participate if supervised by an adult.

Wear comfortable, breathable clothing and appropriate shoes.
Cardio, Core & More: A 60-minute total body workout
where you will get your sweat on, your muscles sculpted,
and your core strengthened.
Deep Water Cardio and Core: Get the benefits of a
high-energy cardio aqua class without any impact on your
joints while recruiting your abdominal muscles to maintain
proper body alignment and technique during class. Your
body is fully suspended in deep water – with the assistance of a buoyancy belt – which enables you to work on
your range of motion and execution of moves. This class
is suitable for all levels of fitness.
Fluid Moves: Our gentlest aqua class designed specifically for mature members or those returning to fitness
after rehabilitation to loosen joints and improve range of
motion, muscular strength and balance.
Forever Fit: A variety of upper and lower body conditioning exercises that will challenge your core and postural muscles for strength, in addition to balance and flexibility. Stability balls are used to enhance coordination and
balance as well as a mat for floor work.
H.I.I.T. it Hard: A high intensity interval training program to shock your system and work it to its capacity.
Various drills are performed to enhance muscular and
cardiovascular strength. No two classes are ever the
same!
Hi/Lo Tabata: The method to success in this format is
20 second intervals followed by 10 second of rest periods performed 8 times before moving onto the next drill
for effective fat burn in a short amount of time. The Hi/Lo
format allows you to work at varying levels, which makes
this cardio-based class perfect for all fitness levels. Take
it Hi or take it Lo, just get in and give it a go!
Kettlebell Cardio: This class is a series of kettlebell
movements that require your body to react as a whole to
create balance, coordination, strength, flexibility and
stamina. The class is a challenging combination of kettlebell cardiovascular and muscular exercises.

and kick your way to fitness and burn up to 740 calories*
in a class. No experience needed. Learn moves from
Karate, Taekwondo, Boxing, Muay Thai, Capoeira and

champ. Bring your best fighter attitude and leave inhibitions at the door.

get lean, toned and fit – fast. Using light to moderate
weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP gives you a
total body workout. It will burn up to 590 calories*. Instructors will coach you through the scientifically proven
moves and techniques pumping out encouragement,
motivation and great music – helping you achieve much
more than on your own! You’ll leave the class feeling
challenged and motivated, ready to come back for more.
MixxedFit®: A people-inspired dance fitness program
performed to your favorite songs on the radio. It is the
perfect blend of explosive dancing and boot camp style
toning. The moves are simple and dance experience is
not required. Just bring yourself for full out fun.
Pilates Essentials: This all level mind body class will
introduce the principles, philosophy and exercises of the
Pilates method.
Fundamentals of body alignment,
breathing and the efficient execution of exercises will be
emphasized to create total body conditioning. Class will
focus on improving body awareness, creating greater
core stability, postural alignment, lean muscular strength
without bulk, balance and flexibility. Whether you are a
beginner, or a veteran to the Pilates, this class will be
sure to leave your body stronger and your mind rejuvenated!
Silver Sneakers® Classic: Have fun and move to the
music through a variety of exercises designed to increase
muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for
daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with
handles, and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair
is used for seated and/or standing support.
Silver Sneakers® Yoga: Move your whole body
through a complete series of seated and standing yoga
poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety
of seated and standing postures designed to increase
flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative
breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote
stress reduction and mental clarity. The format for this
class is to be seated or standing; participants do not get
on the floor. As mandated by Silver Sneakers, shoes are
required in this class.
Stretch Fit: Focus on flexibility as you experience both
dynamic and static stretches that are designed to improve
your posture and prepare your body for the challenges of
the day.
Turbo Tabata & Core: Interval training is the most
effective way to burn the most fat and calories in a short
period of time. Tabata training is a type of High Intensity
Interval Training (HIIT) that includes a variety of drills
done at an ALL OUT 20 second effort followed by 10
seconds of recovery, repeated 8 times before moving on
to the next drill. Drills can include the use of Step 360,
stability and medicine balls, body bars and weights, and
finishes with core work. Designed to go at your own pace,
this class is perfect for all fitness levels.
Zumba®: A high intensity workout that is a fusion of the
spicy flavors of Latin and International rhythms designed
to get your heart pumping and your feet moving. It is
“exercise in disguise.” No dance experience needed!
Zumba Gold®: This is Zumba® 101. Zumba Gold® is
the beginner’s level which breaks down the intricate step
work involved in this Latin dance sensation. It’s perfect for
anyone just starting out in Zumba® fitness, including the
active older adult!
Zumba® Toning: This takes the original Zumba®
dance-fitness class to the next level, utilizing an innovative muscle training protocol and the addition of light
weight toning sticks or dumbbells. You’ll learn how to use
the weighted, maraca-like Zumba® Toning Sticks to
enhance rhythm, build strength, and tone all the target
areas. With their rhythmic percussive sounds, these
Zumba® Toning Sticks will add some spice to your resistive workout routine.
Guarantee your space in class, and reap the benefits as your skills progress. Class sizes have a smaller student to instructor ratio. All classes conducted at a Virginia Beach

Age 3-5 • An adventure of discovery, action and song. These fun-fueled classes help
three, four and five year olds explore how their bodies work. There’s plenty of opportunity
to develop self-awareness, balance, coordination and concentration skills as they interpret music, explore and move to a beat. Each 45-minute class is led by a highly trained
teacher who will ensure your child is engaged, active and having a whole heap of fun.
