The facility will be closed on Sunday, March 27th in observance of the Easter holiday.

We have a variety of drop-in fitness classes to meet your busy schedule! Group Fitness classes are offered at all recreation centers and require Virginia Beach
Recreation Center membership or day pass, in addition to a group fitness punch card, 30 day unlimited pass, or 90 day unlimited pass. Cards and passes can be
purchased at any recreation center.

All centers have a limited amount of equipment available. Participation is on a first come, first served basis. Group Fitness participants must be age 14 or older.
Those age 12 & 13 may participate if supervised by an adult.

Wear comfortable, breathable clothing and appropriate shoes.
20/20/20: Engage in an even split of cardio for fat burning; strength training for a revved up metabolism; and
flexibility and stretching for a balanced approach to fitness. The perfect trifecta for a complete workout.
Circuit Stations: Work your way through a variety of
circuits that offer 3 minute timed cardio, strength and core
exercises with a minute rest before moving onto the next
station. This is a great High Intensity Interval Training
class that will have you burning calories during class and
all day long.
Aqua Muscles and Moves: All the traditional water
fitness moves are brought to life to improve strength and
cardio conditioning. Intensity options are given to challenge all fitness levels.
Deep Water Cardio and Core: Get the benefits of a
high-energy cardio aqua class without any impact on your
joints while recruiting your abdominal muscles to maintain
proper body alignment and technique during class. Your
body is fully suspended in deep water – with the assistance of a buoyancy belt – which enables you to work on
your range of motion and execution of moves. This class
is suitable for all levels of fitness.
Gentle Chair Yoga: Move your whole body through a
complete series of seated and standing yoga poses.
Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of
seated and standing postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative
breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote
stress reduction and mental clarity.
Hi/Lo Tabata: The method to success in this format is
20 second intervals followed by 10 second of rest periods
performed 8 times before moving onto the next drill for
effective fat burn in a short amount of time. The Hi/Lo
format allows you to work at varying levels, which makes
this cardio-based class perfect for all fitness levels. Take
it Hi or take it Lo, just get in and give it a go!
Hybrid Aqua Tabata: This energizing class can be
taken in the shallow or deep end! After a thorough warmup, you’ll move into Tabata drills (8 rounds of a specific
exercise: 20 seconds on, 10 seconds of recover). You’ll
burn calories in class and for the next 24-48 hours!
Iron, Core & More: A 60-minute total body workout
where you will get your muscles toned, your core
strengthened and your sweat on using a variety of equipment.

get lean, toned and fit – fast. Using light to moderate
weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP gives you a
total body workout. It will burn up to 590 calories*. Instructors will coach you through the scientifically proven moves
and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation
and great music – helping you achieve much more than
on your own! You’ll leave the class feeling challenged and
motivated, ready to come back for more.
Kettlebells, Core & More: This class combines the
high energy of strength training from kettlebell grids and
swings to burn calories and increase endurance; core
exercises for balance; and interval training drills using
various equipment. Come get your day started the kettlebell way!
SilverSneakers CardioFit: is an advanced group
exercise class designed for active adults who desire a
safe and effective low-impact cardiovascular workout.
Energizing and easy-to-follow movements promote hearthealthy, total-body conditioning to increase cardiovascular and muscular endurance. In addition, a variety of
strength training options are offered to provide a wellrounded workout. No chair provided.
Silver Sneakers® Circuit: Combine fun with fitness to
increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance
power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body
strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with
handles, and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic
choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching,
and relaxation exercises.
Silver Sneakers® Classic: Have fun and move to the
music through a variety of exercises designed to increase
muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for
daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with
handles, and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair
is used for seated and/or standing support.
Turbo Tabata & Core: Interval training is the most
effective way to burn the most fat and calories in a short
period of time. Tabata training is a type of High Intensity
Interval Training (HIIT) that includes a variety of drills
done at an ALL OUT 20 second effort followed by 10
seconds of recovery, repeated 8 times before moving on
to the next drill. Drills can include the use of Step 360,
stability and medicine balls, body bars and weights, and
finishes with core work. Designed to go at your own pace,
this class is perfect for all fitness levels.
Yoga: Exercises to increase flexibility and strength
through static postures and coordinated breathing techniques; some classes incorporate meditative techniques.
Guarantee your space in class, and reap the benefits as your skills progress. Class sizes have a smaller student to instructor ratio. Age 3-5 • An adventure of discovery, action and
song. These fun-fueled classes help three, four and five
year olds explore how their bodies work. There’s plenty of
opportunity to develop self-awareness, balance, coordination and concentration skills as they interpret music,
explore and move to a beat. Each 45-minute class is led
by a highly trained teacher who will ensure your child is
engaged, active and having a whole heap of fun.
