Glendale’s Council of Higher Degrees
A great time was had by all the Higher Degree Wing Ding held on Oct 5. Event chairman was Kathleen Turek and
music was provided by Ron Knight, “Knight Moves”. ( Photos of the event are available on our web-site.)
This joint committee (made up of LOOM and WOTM members who have earned a higher degree) was formed to
increase membership retention of our most valuable asset – our members. Any man who has advanced to the Moose
Legion or earned their Fellowship or Pilgrim Degree is eligible to participate. Likewise, any woman who has earned
their Academy of Friendship, Star Recorder, or College of Regents degree may participate. And we need you! Please
join us for our next meeting on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 2:00 p.m. The Council of Higher Degrees also is proud to hold
meat draws every other month on the 4th Saturday of each month at 4:30 pm (alternating with the Moose Legion).
Come out and join us in this fun event!
Current officers are:
Don Rentscheler – President.
Phyllis Sonnier – Vice-President, Mary Ann Lowell – Secretary/Recorder, and Carmie Brooks – Chaplain.
The Changes Keep Coming..
If you haven't been to the Lodge on a Saturday night lately, you’ll need to check it out. Saturday Karaoke has been
moved to the back room. Depending on your point of view… that’s good news for many reasons. If you enjoy a quiet
drink in the social quarters—you’re all set. If you wanted a bigger screen so you could read the Karaoke words, your
problem has been solved. Plus there is more room to dance! And with the bar in the back open , there should be shorter
lines to get your drinks!
Have You Noticed the Kids Play Area?
Thanks to our Governor, George Coy, our Moose Lodge Family Center now has a special children’s area! The designated area in the middle room has a large flat screen tv, DVD player, Wii games, puzzles and toys. Special tables and chairs
are provided for the toddlers, as well. You (members) are required to supervise the kids you bring to the center. We ask
that you help keep the new play area clean for all our guests. Rules of conduct will be posted in the area. Enjoy!
Still the Best in the West . . .
We’re still the Best in the West because of our volunteers. If YOU would like to be among the proud, we can always use more help
in the kitchen. It’s not just cooking and washing dishes (though that’s always needed). We need help with setting up for Fish Fry Fridays and other events, waitresses, miscellaneous clean up – even simple tasks like filling salt and pepper shakers, or putting out
placemats and silverware. In fact, there are opportunities all over the lodge. Volunteer for one hour a week or one hour per month or
much more. Every minute helps! Contact George Coy, Governor, or Bob Turek, Administrator, if you want to know more.
What’s Been Happening?
Parking Lot Sale
WOTM 1642 hosted the 2nd Annual Treasure sale in the lodge parking lot—a big success. All proceeds went to the Valley Food
Bank ($652) plus a truckload of left over merchandise for their thrift store. It was a big team effort with lots of donations. We were
wheeling and dealing and even gave items away to those who needed it. We hope to break the bank next year with the 3rd annual
sale. Thanks to everyone (WOTM & LOOM) who helped make this sale such a success. Terri Moore, Jr. Regent
50-60’s Dinner Dance
The dinner dance, chaired by Debbie Branscum, Friendship Chairman, was a great time for all who attending. Contests were held for
dance, hula hoop and costume with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in most of the contests. Thanks to local restaurants, the LOOM and
Chapter for donating the many prizes given away. Thanks to everyone who helped make this party such a success. Please contact
Terri Moore if you’d like to get all the 50’s Dance pictures on a disk.
Photos from both events are available on our website.

LOOM News...
Congratulations to Scott Kedzior, the winner of the $100 gas card for
September! We will again be drawing from all the LOOM renewals in
October and November for another $100 Gas Card.
Message from the Governor
I can't believe that I'm half way through my year of office. It’s been good and I’m ready for the rest of the year.
I want to welcome all of our new members and all of our winter members back.
As you can see we are doing changes. We now have the kids’ area open for future Moose members. We are
now using our back room on Saturday nights. We are trying to improve our kitchen by doing different specials
on Friday nights.
We are still in need of volunteers for our kitchen and throughout our Lodge. Please come and volunteer your
time for the good of the Lodge.
I would like to remind you that the application fees are still waved for new members of the Moose and the
Moose Legion and the Women of the Moose. Don't forget that if you sign two new members up, you’ll get
your dues paid.
Thank you for you continued support for the lodge as well as Mooseheart and Moosehaven.

Message from your Senior Regent
The weather is finally changing after a very long hot summer! The cooler weather also brings back many of our
snow birds. Welcome back – we missed you and are glad to have you back!! The Glendale Women of the Moose
have been hard at work in the past couple of months. Congratulations Terri Moore for the fantastic job on our
Second Annual Parking Lot Sale success. The Valley View Food Bank was very appreciative of the donation.
Debbie Branscum, Academy of Friendship Chairman, hosted the 50’s dance on October 19th that was also a
rousing success.
On Nov. 3, we will be kicking off a week of planned activities for Membership Retention Week! Moose
International has designated the week of November 3 – 9 to be dedicated to membership retention. We are
encouraging everyone to get involved. On Monday November 4th there will be a kick off meeting in the middle
room. Lists of expired members will be distributed to everyone who is willing to make phone calls to expired
members. Scripts will be provided. It will start at 4:00pm. On Wednesday, November 6th from 5:00-7:00 there will
be a social to welcome new members as well as any members that are undecided on whether to renew their
memberships or not. Refreshments will be provided. Then on Saturday, November 9th at 9:00 a.m., we will have a
debriefing meeting over coffee and pastries to finalize our efforts and gauge our success. We truly hope everyone
can make these events this week as we need all the help we can get!
On Saturday and Sunday, November 16th-17th, Glendale will be hosting the All-State Celebration at our Lodge. As
a fundraiser for our District, the Glendale WOTM is requesting donations of baked goods for a bake sale. We
would like to have as many as we can get so please consider donating. Donations can be brought to the Lodge on
Friday anytime or Saturday morning. We would truly appreciate it!
Last but not least, don’t forget there is still a $0 enrollment fee going on so now is the time to sign up new members. Sign up just two and your next year’s membership dues are free! I hope everyone has a blessed holiday season and a very Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
