Cost of living

Living in Australia is cost effective when compared to other western countries.

Sydney caters for all socio-economic groups. Your budget will depend on the type of lifestyle you choose and the location of your accommodation. We anticipate that an international student will require approximately AU$18,000 –

AU$20,000 for living expenses each year

(not including tuition fees).

Sydney has a temperate climate.

The warmest months are January and

February, with temperatures ranging between

18 and 36 degrees Celcius. The coldest months are June and July however, daytime temperatures rarely fall below 10 degrees

Celcius. The average rainfall is 1,200mm per year and average humidity is 62%.

Macquarie University

Throughout the 46 years of its history, Macquarie University has been consistently recognised for the delivery of innovative programs, outstanding academic achievements, its leadership, internationalisation and collaboration with industry.

With one of the most culturally diverse student populations in

Australia, Macquarie University has established its global reputation through partnerships with over 300 international universities, collaborative research, delivery of offshore programs and international student exchange.

Macquarie’s reputation for education excellence continues to be reinforced by the quality of its staff, students, teaching methods and world-class research.

In an ongoing effort to strive for excellence Macquarie University has recently completed a renewal of its undergraduate curriculum and now has a new four faculty structure. These four faculties are: Faculty of Business and

Economics, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of

Human Sciences and Faculty of Science.

In the new curriculum, some degree names have been streamlined into generalist titles such as ‘Bachelor of

Commerce’ with the opportunity for SIBT students to major in more areas, such as – accounting, applied econometrics, business demographics, commercial law, economics, finance, human resources, international business and marketing. SIBT students can also now choose to do a double major when they progress to Macquarie University.

The new curriculum will provide flexibility and breadth, enhancing students’ learning experience and allowing them to study subjects of interest both inside and outside of their academic department, – including units which are termed ‘People’ and ‘Planet’.

‘People’ units of study focus on the development of what it means to be engaged, ethical, local and global citizens.

‘Planet’ units of study help students to understand the nature of science and the challenges and issues facing the world at present.

It is anticipated that exciting units of

‘Participation’ will be implemented for students who enrol from 2012 onwards.

In addition to outstanding academic achievements and teaching facilities,

Macquarie University is rich in social, sporting and cultural amenities, all designed to enhance student experience.

Macquarie University opened Macquarie

City Campus in 2007. This location gives students the opportunity to study select Macquarie University programs in the Sydney CBD.

SIBT students have access to

Macquarie University and Macquarie

City Campus services and facilities.

Winnie So, Malaysia

Certificate IV in University Foundation Studies, SIBT

Diploma of Computing, SIBT

Bachelor of Science (Statistics), Macquarie University

2007 SIBT Macquarie Scholarship holder

Academically, the SIBT Certificate provided me with a firm foundation for the subjects in my field of studies and gave me skills in critical thinking, research and referencing. This increased my confidence.

The passionate, interactive and personal style of the teaching at SIBT was the highlight of my studies.

Higher Education Diploma Courses

Who should apply?

Students can apply for the

Diploma if they have:

Achieved the equivalent to

Australian high school, Year 12

Completed a Certificate IV in

University Foundation Studies

Obtained other post-school

Certificates or Diplomas

Detailed academic requirements for various countries are outlined on page 28 and 29.

SIBT Diplomas prepare students for entry into second year of a relevant Macquarie University Bachelor degree and provide a recognised qualification for employment purposes.

Diploma of Commerce

Provides the basis for further study in areas such as accounting, finance, actuarial studies, commercial law, international business, economics, marketing and human resources. Career options are varied across private and public sector organisations and can include accountancy, stockbroking, finance, economics, marketing, human resource management and international business. Students specialise in their preferred area when they begin their second year studies.

Diploma of Business

Administration

Provides a comprehensive preparation for students wishing to pursue a career in business management without undertaking a full specialisation. Students will learn broad business skills required for modern management. Careers are often found in the areas of business administration, banking, management, consulting, computing, financial management, marketing, recruitment and staff development.

Diploma of Computing

Ideal for students with an interest in computing. The course provides a broad introduction and students progress to more specialised areas in their second and third years. Career options include system analysis, programming, database administration, networking, artificial intelligence, language technology, multimedia and internet development, e-commerce and other areas in government and industry.

Diploma of Communication

Provides the foundation for further studies in the areas of media, public affairs, international relations, social science and culture. Upon completion of a degree, employment may be gained in government and industry administration, publishing and editing, journalism, arts policy/administration, public relations, advertising, media production or audience research.

Diploma of Arts

Ideal for students seeking flexibility. Upon completion students enter the Macquarie

University Bachelor of Arts which offers a variety of study areas including ancient history, anthropology, cultural studies,

English, dance, languages, media, modern history, contemporary music, creative arts, politics and international relations, philosophy, sociology and writing.

Employment opportunities are offered in a range of industries depending on the areas of study selected during the degree.

Please note that in some cases the Diploma of Arts pathway requires completion of extra units and may take up to an additional 12 months of study at university. Please contact a SIBT Academic Advisor if you are interested in this study option.

Diploma of Electronic

Engineering

This course provides a critical introduction for students wishing to study a Bachelor of Engineering at Macquarie University.

Upon completion of the Diploma students can specialise in five different areas: computer, electronics, software, telecommunications or wireless engineering, which in Australia is unique to Macquarie University. The Engineering

Degree is a 4 year accredited professional program that prepares students to work as professional engineers.

English requirements

A minimum IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) is required for direct entry into Diploma and for the Fast Track option. An IELTS score of 5.5 is needed to gain provisional entry to a SIBT Diploma. Students admitted into the Provisional Entry Program must complete an additional Communication and Study Skills unit in the first semester before full entry is granted into Diploma.

For further details refer to page 27.

Course structure

Students must complete 8 academic units, either over 8 months (Fast Track) or 12 months (Standard Track). Students on a Provisional Diploma will complete their studies at SIBT over 12 months. Unit content is identical to the respective first year units at Macquarie University.

Teaching methods

SIBT students attend 4 hours of classroombased lectures and tutorials per unit per week. It is expected that approximately

6–8 hours per week per unit will also be required for additional study time.

Assessment methods

The method of assessment may vary depending on the course and units selected.

A combination of university approved assessments, including assignments, essays, oral presentations, tutorial participation and formal examinations may be used.

Course accreditation

SIBT is a Higher Education Provider offering courses accredited by the

New South Wales Department of

Education and Training. Academic standards are assured by Macquarie

University moderation procedures and university accredited examinations.

Further studies

Upon successful completion of a

SIBT Diploma students enter the appropriate Bachelor degree (Year 2,

Semester 1) or continue at SIBT to complete an Advanced Diploma.

Requirements for transfer to Macquarie University

In accordance with Macquarie University

Progression and Transfer Rules, SIBT students must meet the following conditions for transfer to Macquarie

University or Macquarie City Campus:

Minimum requirement is a pass in 8 Diploma units.

Some degree programs require a minimum Grade Point Average

(GPA). Refer to pages 16–19.

Australian citizens and permanent residents require a minimum GPA of 1.5.

Pallavi Chaudhary, India

Diploma of Business, SIBT

A major advantage of studying in SIBT is the size of the classroom: no lecture has more than 50 students so the lecturer can give each student individual attention. I also like SIBT’s location on the Macquarie University Campus because I enjoy the same benefits as Macquarie University students, like the library, the computer labs, student discounts in the on-campus cafés, etc.

I have never regretted making the decision to study so far away from home.

It is an enriching experience that has changed me for the better.

Important Information

Advanced Diploma

Students are awarded an Advanced

Diploma upon successful completion of 12 units. This includes the SIBT

Diploma (8 units) plus an additional

4 units. These additional units are equivalent to the first semester of second year Macquarie University.

Students will be offered a place in the

Advanced Diploma if they commence their studies in October or graduate from the SIBT Diploma in October. This is because Macquarie University does not offer classes between October and

February and the Advanced Diploma is designed to allow students to continue their studies at SIBT during this period.

Students who enjoy the SIBT learning environment can also choose to continue studying the Advanced Diploma.

Upon graduation, students progress to the second semester of second year of the relevant Bachelor degree and will only need to complete a further 1.5 years of study at Macquarie

University or Macquarie City Campus.

What is a GPA?

Each SIBT student who completes a

SIBT Diploma/Advanced Diploma will receive a Grade Point Average (GPA).

This is a score between 0 and 4.0 that reflects the average academic achievement during the course.

GPA calculations are relevant only where there is a GPA requirement to proceed to the related degree program at Macquarie University. For example,

Bachelor of Business Administration has a GPA entry requirement of 2.0.

GPA examples:

• A student who achieves a grade of Pass in 8 units with no fails has a GPA of 2.0

• A student who attempts 8 units and achieves 4 passes and

4 credits will have a GPA of 2.5

For further details and examples of how the GPA is calculated please refer to www.sibt.nsw.edu.au/GPA.htm

Additional notes:

^ For students with IELTS scores of 6.0 (or equivalent) the discipline specific Academic Communication unit is a compulsory unit.

‡ Prescribed units – specific units must be studied for progression into these degrees. Please see a SIBT Academic Advisor for further information.

# Additional 100 level units will be required to be completed at Macquarie

University. Please see a SIBT Academic Advisor for further information.

Students have the option to study these degree programs at Macquarie City Campus, located in Sydney CBD.

Course length (SIBT + MQ) will be longer than 3 years.

Students must see an Academic Advisor for details.

Activity

I wake up around 7am and take the fantastic new train to Macquarie University station. During my

20-minute trip I revise my accounting lecture notes before class. Accounting is one of my best subjects and my goal is to be an Accountant (which is why I chose Macquarie – it is famous worldwide for

Accounting!). I grab a coffee and a bagel from the SIBT ‘Globe Café’ before heading to class.

I have finished the first 3-hour block of an Accounting lecture of the day (we also have breaks in this time). The lecturer was very clear in her teaching, she explained the theory well and gave practical exercises so we could further understand what she was teaching. I am now heading to my tutorial for the same unit, which will go for about an hour.

My tutor is super friendly and very knowledgeable – he’s currently doing CPA, and I can ask him anything I need to.

Lunchtime! So much choice… I usually choose between the food court (U @ MQ) on campus or go across to Macquarie Centre, which has over 250 shops and restaurants. Today it’s U @ MQ and I am meeting my lovely SIBT friends in the central courtyard. There are five of us in the group – from Korea,

Australia, China and India. There’s amazing diversity at SIBT and Macquarie, around 100 different nationalities, so I have made a lot of friends from all around the world. I have Thai vegetable rice for lunch and we talk about our upcoming tests and when we are going to meet next for study group.

The next class is ISYS104 (Computing). Every week we have a quiz at the beginning of the class so the lecturer knows if we have understood last week’s lecture. It’s great revision for me! The lecturer always makes the class very interesting and lively. He also usually explains what we are going to learn in practical class so this makes it so much easier when we get into this next class. In this unit,

I have learnt how to use Excel, Microsoft Word and even how to build a website from scratch!

Class is over and I’m really excited because there is a Malaysian Club BBQ on at

Macquarie University Village. I love meeting new people and the students who come along are actually from everywhere – not just Malaysia. It’s a good mix between typical

Aussie BBQ food, sausages and steak, and Malaysian food, mee goreng and curry puffs.

I meet Sally, an Australian girl who is studying a Diploma of Communication at SIBT.

She is really friendly and we make plans to meet up for a coffee next week.

I say goodbye to everyone and catch the train back to my apartment. I revise today’s lesson and quickly fall asleep! I want to get up early tomorrow to go to the gym at Macquarie University’s Sports and Aquatic Centre after all the delicious food I’ve eaten today!

21

Same Class. New Experience.

SIBT now has the same semester dates and one timetable across two campus locations. This means that students can design their timetable to study some units at SIBT in the City and some at the SIBT campus at North Ryde.

For example, a Diploma of Commerce student might choose to do a Finance unit in the city on Tuesday, Marketing and Accounting at North Ryde on Wednesday and then head back to the City on Thursday for Computing.

Students have the flexibility to experience both campus lifestyles while still graduating with the same high-quality SIBT Diploma.

The benefits of choosing units at SIBT in the city

1. It’s convenient

We understand it is often easier to get to the city, so studying some units in the CBD could cut down travel time and make life a little easier.

Students can take advantage of the new railway line that operates between Macquarie University and

Wynyard station. It’s never been easier or quicker to travel between campuses by public transport.

2. Experience two study lifestyles

Students can combine the experiences of studying at Macquarie

University, with studying in the heart of Sydney’s financial district at Macquarie City Campus. Take this opportunity to get more out of your tertiary learning experience.

As the hub of Sydney’s business and social activity, the CBD offers a variety of options to socialise with friends and classmates. Share lunch with friends in Hyde Park or the Rocks, or go to the movies after class – the new experiences are endless.

3. Increased opportunities for part-time work

Studying in the city provides the chance to gain part-time work close to the campus and obtain valuable work experience. At the same time, working close to Macquarie City Campus means you can more easily divide your time between study and employment.

4. Same high quality education

It’s only the location that is different.

The unit content and exams are identical at each campus, so wherever students choose to study they will receive the same high-quality education.

‘In this semester I designed my timetable to study two units at the City and two units at North Ryde. The campus at North Ryde has a huge range of facilities, and this combined with the smaller classes and quiet, modern learning environment in the City make my study lifestyle both convenient and always interesting! Next semester I’ll continue to study at both campuses as it makes university life more diverse and I can get more out of my time here by experiencing the advantages of both locations.’

SIBT classroom environment

Small classes (maximum 50 students per lecture and 25 students per tutorial) encourage higher levels of lecturer/ student interaction. This provides

SIBT students with the opportunity to receive individual attention.

To further enhance students' learning experience, all SIBT lecture rooms contain state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment. This allows lecturers to deliver course content using interactive technologies including video, audio, DVD and the internet.

SIBT student population

With students coming from over 50 countries, including Australia, SIBT is an ideal environment to meet friends, establish international networks and experience the Australian culture.

Computer facilities

At both SIBT study locations, students enjoy access to computer laboratories, internet connection, printing facilities and online study materials. Dedicated IT personnel are available to assist students.

Online technology @ SIBT

SIBT offers students the flexibility to design a timetable that suits their lifestyle and commitments. The SIBT student portal is an online communication tool that permits students to choose their units and enrol remotely. Students can also receive examination results, check examination dates and obtain other critical information. Students are also encouraged to participate in online student forums. James Beerworth, Australia

Diploma of Commerce, SIBT

Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing), Macquarie University

James is now working as an Account Manager for TorchMedia, a successful retail media firm in Sydney

After I left school, I was very unsure of my options and the direction my life was going to take. A friend suggested that I look at the SIBT website for ideas and the courses they offer. I soon enrolled in the

Diploma of Commerce and rate this as one of the best life decisions I made. SIBT is an excellent stepping stone for people who didn’t quite achieve the grades to make it directly into Macquarie University.

Student support services

SIBT will support you on the journey to becoming an independent learner. A range of support services and programs are offered to ensure students achieve their academic potential while also developing personally and maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

The services and programs outlined below are available to all students and are provided at no additional cost.

Academic and welfare guidance

SIBT offers individual academic and welfare counselling to students seeking additional assistance. A team of qualified advisors is available and students seeking assistance are encouraged to make individual appointments. A convenient daily drop in advisory service is also available to students.

Additional academic assistance

Academic Advisors conduct regular study skills workshops in areas essential to university studies, including time management, goal setting, motivation, essay preparation, examination techniques, stress and relaxation.

Further individual assistance with

Statistics and Mathematics is provided through the Macquarie

University Numeracy Centre.

• SIBT lecturers are available for individual consultations. Students are encouraged to contact their lecturer to make an appointment.

Learning Support Service

SIBT Advisors assist students with questions related to learning. This service offers individual advice on interpreting essay and assignment questions, exam strategies, academic English and effective study techniques.

Workshops

Extra tuition is provided each week for select units. These are organised to offer support to students who require further explanation of key concepts and assistance with assessment preparation.

Peer mentoring program

This program assists students to adapt to Australian culture and to their new learning environment. An experienced senior student, who is trained as a mentor, welcomes each new student, provides information about academic and campus life and offers ongoing support during the student’s first semester at SIBT.

SIBT orientation and enrolment

Orientation days are held each semester in the week prior to the commencement of classes. Important information needed to succeed at SIBT is provided and attendance is essential for all new students.

During orientation students are organised into small groups, each led by a mentor.

Students attend an information session, design their personal timetable, complete administrative tasks and join their group for a campus tour and a shared lunch.

Student Representative

Group (SRG)

The SRG is comprised of student and staff representatives who meet on a regular basis.

The role of the group is to provide students with a channel of communication between SIBT’s management and the student body. It provides an avenue where current issues affecting students can be discussed and feedback provided via the

Forum located on the Student Portal.

You Joung Kim, Korea

Diploma of Arts, SIBT

Living in Sydney is such an amazing experience. How people think and what they do is just different from my country. Students at

SIBT are more open-minded and tend to be more independent.

This is one of the biggest advantages I have experienced.

When I came to Sydney, I felt the language barrier and experienced a big culture shock. However the people around me were so friendly and I overcame this quickly with their support.

Navitas bursary and scholarships

Navitas bursary

Navitas offers financial support in the form of family bursaries. A bursary applies where two or more students from the same family study with a Navitas member institution.

The first family member can be studying with a Navitas member institution at the same time as other family members or may have previously studied with any

Navitas member institution. For the purpose of this bursary, a family member is defined as a husband, wife, brother, sister, mother, father, son, daughter or stepchild.

The bursary is granted to the second and subsequent family members who study with a Navitas member institution. The bursary is equivalent to 10% of the tuition fee for one program only (ie. High School,

Certificate IV, Foundation, Diploma,

Bachelor degree or Master degree with a Navitas member institution) and is credited to the eligible student’s tuition fee account each semester (the amount being relevant to the number of units undertaken in that semester). The bursary does not apply to additional units or repeat units that may also be undertaken.

Please note:

1. The Navitas bursary is not applicable to English language programs or any component of an

English language program offered by Navitas member institutions. Please contact the relevant

Navitas member institution for more information.

2. The Navitas bursary applies to students studying at ACN, CIC, Curtin Sydney, Curtin

Singapore, CRIC, Eynesbury, FIC, HIBT, ICM, ICP,

ICWS, LIBT, Macquarie City Campus, MIBT, MIBT

Indonesia, PDIC, PIBT, QIBT, SAIBT and SIBT only.

3. A completed application must be submitted to the Navitas institution together with supporting documents, such as birth certificate, or family card. Application form can be obtained from the

Navitas institution where the student has enrolled.

Navitas academic merit scholarships

Navitas is committed to helping students achieve their career goals by offering scholarships to outstanding students.

The scholarship applies to 50% of the tuition fee for a Navitas Diploma^ program at a Navitas college or one academic semester of undergraduate studies at ACN, Curtin Sydney, Curtin

Singapore or Macquarie City Campus.

To be considered for the Navitas academic merit scholarship, students must:

1. Have achieved a minimum average of 70% in their high school final year grades. Students who have completed further studies, must have achieved a minimum average of 70% in the last 12 months of their most recent studies to be eligible. Non-academic subjects including physical education, religion and languages are not included in the assessment; and

2. Have achieved a minimum

English language proficiency of

IELTS 6.0 or equivalent; and

3. Have a Letter of Offer from a

Navitas college or Navitas operated university campus (must hold an

UNCONDITIONAL OFFER by the application deadline); and

4. Be a new applicant (i.e. students who are currently studying with a Navitas member institution are not eligible).

Please note:

1. 2 x 50% scholarships are offered at all

Navitas colleges each semester.

2. Additional factors such as educational disadvantage, membership of a specific equity group and/or significantly adverse personal circumstances may be taken into account where the committee must differentiate between equally qualified applicants.

3. Students who are eligible to apply for a Navitas academic merit scholarship will be sent the scholarship application form with their Letter of Offer.

^ Diploma program may also be known or registered as Diploma Stage 2, 1st Year Degree

Programme or University Transfer

Program Stage 2 by some Navitas member institutions.

Student visas

The SIBT advantage – one visa for all your studies!

SIBT can provide undergraduate students with one visa for the entire duration of their studies. This includes the SIBT course, Macquarie University

Bachelor degree and English tuition, if required. All you need to do is complete the SIBT application form and we will organise everything.

What should I know about an Overseas Student Visa?

Applying for a Student Visa

Prospective international students intending to study in Australia must obtain a student visa from an Australian

Diplomatic Mission in their home country before embarking for Australia. Visa regulations must be met before a student visa is issued and these vary from country-to-country. A SIBT representative will be able to assist you in applying for a visa.

To apply for a visa you will first require:

• A Letter of Offer from SIBT.

• A Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) issued by SIBT after the respective fees and charges have been paid.

• A medical check-up as required by immigration regulation.

• Proof of financial support as required by immigration regulation.

• Citizens of certain countries may need to obtain a Pre-Visa Assessment from the Australian Diplomatic Mission before making any payment to SIBT.

How long is my visa?

Your student visa will be issued for the duration of the SIBT course as stated in the CoE that you will receive from SIBT.

If you plan to continue your studies at

Macquarie University or Macquarie City

Campus, SIBT will issue a CoE for both your SIBT and university courses.

Can I work while I study?

Permission to work in Australia will be granted as part of the student visa.

Students can work up to 20 hours per week while studying and full-time during the semester breaks. The income earned from part-time work is not adequate to cover study and living costs.

Are there visa conditions?

Whilst studying in Australia students

MUST abide by visa conditions as determined by the Department of

Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC).

These include:

• Complete course within the duration specified in the CoE.

• Maintain satisfactory attendance and course progress.

Have sufficient funds to cover course fees and living expenses while in Australia.

Students who wish to change education provider before completing the first 6 months of their principal course must obtain a release letter from their institution and submit an application to DIAC. If the visa package includes both SIBT and

Macquarie University/Macquarie

City Campus, the principal course is the Macquarie University degree.

• Students must inform DIAC if they change their student status or withdraw from the course they are enrolled in.

• Students must extend their student visa before it expires.

• Students are required to advise

SIBT of changes to their Australian address within 7 days.

Do I need Overseas

Student Health Cover ?

It is a visa condition that all overseas students maintain Overseas Student

Health Cover (OSHC) while in Australia.

If you have an accident or health problem you will be able to redeem some, or all of your medical costs.

SIBT will organise one policy for the duration of your SIBT course and English studies at CME or ACL (if required).

Costs are outlined on page 34.

Letter of Offer. Payment will not be receipted by SIBT until all the conditions on the Letter of Offer have been met and accepted by the Admissions Department.

Can I get exemption for my previous studies?

Students may apply to receive exemptions for SIBT units on the basis of previous study. This should be done prior to enrolment. Exemption

Application forms can be obtained from your SIBT representative or downloaded from the SIBT website.

PartA/Part_A.htm

Additional articulation conditions or quotas may apply from time-to-time. Any additional conditions will be included in the Letter of Offer.

SIBT’s current, full Refund Policy and Enrolment

Conditions for Overseas Students is available at: www.sibt.nsw.edu.au/index.php/sibt-policies.html

For the purposes of the Refund Policy and Enrolment

Conditions for Overseas Students only, a course is defined as one semester of study in any program of SIBT.

If an applicant accepts a place offered by SIBT and pays the fees, it means a binding contract is created between the student and SIBT.

Notification of withdrawal from unit/s or course of study must be made in writing to SIBT.

The cancellation fee will be calculated as shown in the table on this page.

All fees paid including any course fees collected by education agents on behalf of SIBT, except the non-refundable enrolment fee, are subject to this refund policy.

Where a visa renewal is rejected due to a breach in visa conditions, a student must withdraw from SIBT and the cancellation fee will be calculated as shown in the table on this page.

SIBT reserves the right not to offer a course previously made available at its own discretion.

Where a student is unable to enrol in a similar course at SIBT and the enrolment is cancelled then all fees paid will be refunded.

All refunds under SIBT’s Refund Policy and Enrolment

Conditions for Overseas Students will be paid within four (4) weeks after receiving a written claim from the student. In the unlikely event that Sydney Institute of

Business and Technology (SIBT) is unable to deliver your course in full, you will be offered a refund of all the course money you have paid to date. The refund will be paid to you within 2 weeks of the day on which the course ceased being provided. Alternatively, you may be offered enrolment in an alternative course by SIBT at no extra cost to you. You have the right to choose whether you would prefer a full refund of course fees, or to accept a place in another course. If you choose placement in another course, we will ask you to sign a document to indicate that you accept the placement.

If SIBT is unable to provide a refund or place you in an alternative course our Tuition Assurance Scheme

(TAS) Australian Council for Private Education and

Training (ACPET) will place you in a suitable alternative course at no extra cost to you. Finally, if ACPET can not place you in a suitable alternative course, the ESOS

Assurance Fund Manager will attempt to place you in a suitable alternative course or, if this is not possible, you will be eligible for a refund as calculated by the

Fund Manager.

This agreement, and the availability of complaints and appeals processes, does not remove the right of the student to take action under Australia’s consumer protection laws.
