¡Hola clase! ¡Espero que el verano haya empezado fantásticamente! Os explicaré todo en
inglés para que todos entiendan la tarea. ☺

Wikispaces Classroom Page. Objetivo: Darnos conocimientos actuales sobre el mundo
español mientras mejorando nuestra habilidad de leer, escuchar y entender la lengua.

You will post found investigations and resources to our class website underneath a total of 3 out of
6 possible categories that align with our textbook. Your resources will include links to articles,
videos, radios, songs, poetry, newspapers, etc, and you will then write a summary (see Paso 4
below) in Spanish.
You will be sent a log-in and password to connect yourself to our website.
Look around to familiarize yourself with the links on the right; I have posted MANY helpful
websites and other information to guide you with your research.

El mundo del trabajo (jobs, search, workplace communication, tasks, etc)
Ejercicio y diversión (outdoor sports, indoor sports, for fun, fresh air, etc)
La aventura de viajar (vacation plans, hotels, airplanes, food, travel, culture shock, etc)
¿Cómo es nuestra sociedad? (family, society, social problems, university, education,
finances, etc)
5. ¡Hablamos de arte! (personal art, painting, music, sculpture, literature, poetry, etc)
6. Ver, divertirse e informarse (television, programming, movies, advertising, news
coverage, media, current events, etc)
o Reglas:
Most important: PLEASE be RESPECTFUL! If there is something posted, please
do not add, delete or change information to it. Just add your own content, do not
touch others’.
My suggestion: Do ONE every other week to keep your Spanish up over the
summer. These are not textbook-style readings/recordings. They should be realworld resources, which take time to become comfortable with.
You may not repeat any research item, so be sure to check!!!
o Pasos:
1. You will research a magazine article, video, news article, radio excerpt, song,
podcast etc. that pertains to one of the 6 possible categories (1 item from 3 of the
categories of your choice ☺) Any research item MUST be in Spanish, no
exceptions.
2. Open up the specific page, and push “edit”. This will allow you to add your info to
the page. Label with your name. Do not touch anyone else’s info.
3. Post a link (label/title the specific item you are discussing), embed a video or
photograph, or even the radio excerpt or podcast. I should be able to
see/hear/read whatever your source is.
4. Write a brief 1) summary of what you read/saw/heard, 2) how what you chose to
post pertains to that particular category, and 3) your reaction to what you
read/saw/heard.

WikiSpaces Classroom Page: On the page labeled “Mi Clase” you need to post a small
photo of yourself and a brief description of your life, likes, dislikes, and goals for this course in
Spanish. I already have my bio there to help you know how to do this.
o Log on with username/password.
o Go to “Mi Clase” page and push edit.
o Add your name as the header (use Header 2—on the left side of the edit toolbar) and
then write your description/goals.
o Add a photo and resize to fit appropriately. You can also align it to the right side as I
have done and it will make the text wrap around the image.
o Save the page.

Una Película en Español: Choose a movie and watch it in Spanish – easy as that!

The movie must be dubbed in Spanish, not just Spanish subtitles.
Rent or borrow one. Many Disney movies are dubbed over in Spanish, some Pixars. Or, if
you’d like to watch an authentically produced Spanish movie, please do!
When you’re done, write a half-page summary of the movie, en español, tell me:
1. the title of the film
2. your written summary
3. your explanation about how it fits one of the class themes
4. your personal thoughts or reaction
5. Some phrases or words that, when translated, interested you or you thought were
clever
** If you need help, there is a “help” button at the top right on the page which has tutorial
videos (similar to the home page) that you can watch. Still confused? Google, email me
