Workshops and WorkshopPLUS
Workshops provide customers with Microsoft best practices to help them utilise Microsoft technologies and receive
knowledge transfer directly from Microsoft subject matter experts. These best practices focus on administration; operation
and helping customers make their Microsoft enterprise environment more supportable.
WorkshopPLUS courses provide Premier Support customers with advanced technical training that can significantly improve
their IT staff’s ability to act proactively and to develop crisis-management skills, thereby helping to increase uptime and
overall infrastructure performance. These training programs include Pre- and Post-Assessments to measure knowledge
gained from the course, as well as an Action Planning session to help participants take what they’ve learned and apply it to
real-world scenarios.


To ensure that participants get the most out of each Premier Workshop, the technical level of the presentation has been
included. Classification has been done in accordance with the classic undergraduate class model and the description of each level

The Active Directory Recovery Execution Service aims to help your organization review common Active Directory disaster

disaster. Together with the expertise of a Microsoft engineer It will help to create a fully tested and supported Active
Directory disaster recovery plan and solid documentation base. It includes a side-by-side knowledge transfer with your IT
staff so they are trained perform the execution steps for Active Directory disaster scenarios.
Although available for delivery in isolation, this service can be combined with the Active Directory Disaster Recovery
Planning (ADDRP) offering to provide a complete AD disaster recovery service. When delivered in unison with ADDRP,
customers will be armed with the knowledge to address the crucial planning elements involved in recovering their Active

This service is designed for Microsoft Premier Support customers who have designed and/or implemented Microsoft Active
Directory and require practical, hands-on guidance for recovering their Active Directory infrastructure.

BUSINESS NEEDS:
Active Directory provides a critical foundation for a many enterprise applications, therefore it is essential that organisations
have an up to date, fully documented and well tested Active Directory disaster recovery plan.
This offering walks customers through the practical steps required to recover from common AD disaster scenarios, using
data that represents their live infrastructure. The skills and concepts learnt during this engagement allow customers to
assess the viability of their existing DR plans. In the case where no DR plans exist, customers will be able to understand the

means of PowerShell scripting language.
The workshop content is designed to cover all areas of AD management that can be performed using the Active Directory User and
Computers administrative tool, but contains also many other operations that cannot be performed by this tool (LDAP search, bitmask
type attributes management, management of attributes not revealed in graphical interface, etc.).
The first five modules are covered during the first three days, if module 6 is required, the workshop will be four days long.

the course. This 25-question assessment was developed by a team of subject matter experts at Microsoft.
Outgoing Assessment to measure knowledge transfer. Students like to know how much they learned as a result of the training. At
the end of the WorkshopPLUS course, students compare their Incoming and Outgoing results. In addition, the instructor reviews

Active Directory Fundamentals. Introduces the
Troubleshooting Methodology. The module identifies the
components involved in troubleshooting AD and the
potential Business Impact of issues within your

AD is based, including LDAP basics and the logical and
physical structure of the AD database.
Module 2: Troubleshooting Critical Services and Flexible
Single Master Scenarios. Introduces students to the Active
Directory Critical services. The module covers FSMO roles
and key troubleshooting scenarios.
Module 3: DNS Concepts and Troubleshooting. Explains
why AD is reliant on DNS and covers what AD
administrators need to know about how AD uses DNS
including the symptoms, causes, and resolution to DNS
problems. It also covers Windows 2008 RODC DNS
functionality and Global Name Zones.
Module 4: Client Logon and Authentication. Guides students
through common logon scenarios for client logon and
authentication issues, including Secure Channel, Kerberos, and
Tokensize problems. The module also covers auditing AD and
delegation of administration.
Module 5: Replication. Focuses on the mechanics by which
directory changes are transferred among domain controllers, A wide
range of troubleshooting scenarios are discussed along with
solutions. The module builds on the troubleshooting tools covered
in previous modules. RODC replication and troubleshooting are
