Smart Yards Lawn Care and Landscape
Management Workshop
The Middle Tallapoosa Clean Water Partnership, in partnership with Russell Lands, the
Auburn University Department of Agronomy and Soils, Tallapoosa County Extension Service, Lake
Martin HOBO, Lake Watch of Lake Martin, Lake Martin Resource Association, and the City of
Alexander City is pleased to offer a Smart Yards Lawn Care and Landscape Management Workshop,
free of charge, from 9:30-11:30 AM, on Saturday, March 16th, 2013 at the Stables at the Crossroads (for
information on the Stables, go to www.russelllandsonlakemartin.com/greatoutdoors/stables.html).
Registration is from 9:30-9:45 AM before the workshop. The workshop will cover practical tips and
management methods to maintain a healthy and environmentally-conscious lawn and landscape,
following practices outlined in the recently published Alabama Smart Yards
manual (see www.smartyards.org). Save money, maintain a healthy lawn and
lessen the negative impacts on the environment, particularly Lake Martin! And
the first 20 registrants get a free copy of the Alabama Smart Yards manual (a
$15 value)!
Alabama Cooperative Extension Service landscape management specialists and
Auburn University watershed specialists
Beth Guertal, AU Professor of Turfgrass Management, Shane Harris,
Tallapoosa County Extension Coordinator, and Eric Reutebuch, Alabama Water
Watch instructors, will conduct the workshop. Be sure to check the Tallapoosa
