AND AGAIN… : ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
http://www.utm.utoronto.ca/academic-integrity/plagiarism-scenarios
 Cooperation and
dividing tasks
 For later
concern: selfplagiarism is
also plagiarism
 Questions:
contact teacher,
supervisor,
study advisor,
peers, etc.

Five fundamental values that characterize an academic
community of integrity:
 Honesty. The quest for truth and knowledge requires
intellectual and personal honesty in learning, teaching,
research and service.
 Trust. Academic institutions foster a climate of mutual trust
in order to stimulate the free exchange of ideas.
 Fairness. All interactions among students, teachers and
administrators are grounded in clear standards, practices and
procedures.
 Respect. Learning is a participatory process, and a wide
range of opinions and ideas is respected.
 Responsibility. A thriving community demands personal
accountability on the part of all members and depends upon
action in the face of wrongdoing.
IMPORTANT




To be registered on time in modules
To meet deadlines (to avoid piling them up)
To explore on-line platforms and facilities for your study
To engage in the academic world…
Be curious! Be open! Be international!
 Many useful information is provided on the UT website, Blackboard & OSIRIS.
 IBA website: www.utwente.nl/iba
 Read, read, read...
 The program management team, STRESS, and all
teachers are always available to guide you.
 But do not expect to be “fed by spoon”.

Grading & module test plans
 Module parts are graded with grades in 1
decimal (for example 6,7).
 Remark: Here a 5,46 will be rounded to 5,5
 Modules are graded with grades without
decimals (for example 7)
 module grades are based on a weighted average of
the grades for module parts. For some of the module
parts a minimum grade is required.
 Remark: Here a 5,46 will be rounded to a 5.
First the weighted average will be calculated based on
grades (in 1 decimal) of module parts and subsequently
rounding.
