ABOUT THE TETLEY
The Tetley is a new centre for contempor ar y ar t and lear ning based in the
for mer headquar ter s of Tetley’s Brewer y. The building was refurbished shor tly
after the brewer y’s closure in 2011 and reopened as a public venue and cultur al
attr action in November 2013.
The Tetley champions the production and display of new pr actices in
contempor ar y ar t. Our exhibitions are challenging yet accessible and through
our events progr amme and community projects, we make this wor k engaging to
visitor s of all backgrounds.
We also oper ate a lively Bar & Kitchen ser ving Yor kshire-inspired fare with a
contempor ar y twist. There are unique spaces throughout the inside and outside
of the building available for events, pr ivate hire or as tenant occupied offices
for creative industr ies. The income gener ated through our business activity is
reinvested into helping The Tetley deliver our char itable objectives.

Wor kspace provisions include:

• Receptionist available 7 days a week, as well as
24/7 security of the premises

available for all third floor tenants

• AV equipment when not booked for event hire
or exhibitions
• Access to staff menu which is limited but heavily
discounted
• Free family member ship to The Tetley which
includes invitations to special events (previews,
special member s events, free tickets to lar ge
on-site events eg Made In Leeds), discounts in
the Bar & Kitchen and in The Tetley’s Gift Shop.
We can also offer you discounted r ates on
room hire throughout the building. The Tetley
offer s excellent visitor facilities for enter taining
clients including a high-quality food and dr ink
offer, free Wi-Fi throughout the building and
public galler y spaces.

CURRENT WORKSPACE RESIDENTS
The Third Floor is cur rently home to three independent businesses wor king
across the creative sector and The City Wor kshop – a room which for mer ly
ser ved as the Director’s Dining Room dur ing the brewer y’s heyday and is now a
dynamic flexible space used by Leeds City Council and urban planner s as a space
to meet and contemplate about future city developments.
Additional occupants include Systemwor k, an IT suppor t provider who ser vices
local cultur al or ganisations including The Tetley and Harewood House; Outsmar t,
a creative mar keting agency responsible for establishing The Tetley’s visual
identity and logo; Group Ginger, an architecture and urban design pr actice with
a full r ange of architectural ser vices related to regener ation, refurbishment and
development. (Lead architect Simon Baker was the chief architect at Chetwoods
Architects who were behind The Tetley’s refurbishment project.)
