D is i n fe c t an t s A c t, 1972 (Act 54 of 1972), m ade the regulations appearing in the Schedule hereto, which shall
b ec o m e e ffe c ti v e fr o m t h e d at e of p ub l i ca t ion hereof, save regulation 4 (1), which shall becom e effective
t wo m o n th s aft e r s u ch d at e of p ub l i ca t i on .
S CHEDULE
1.
I n t h es e r eg u la t i on s “t h e Ac t” shall mean the Foodstuffs, C osm etics and Disinfectants Act, 1972
( Ac t 54 o f 1 9 72 ) , a n d a n y e x pr e ssion to which a m eaning has been assigned in the Act shall bear
s uc h m e a ni n g, a nd , un l es s i nc o ns i st e n t w i th t he c on t ex t—

m ea n c o n ta i ni n g n o ad d ed p er m it t e d s we e t en e r.

N o s oft d ri n k s h al l contain any foreign substance: P rovided that the additives nam ed in column I of
t he fo ll o wi n g t a bl e m a y , u nless prohibited or further limited by any other law, be present in a soft
d ri n k o r , i n t he case of a soft drink which is to be diluted with water, in such soft drink when diluted
i n a c co r d an c e w i th t he instructions on the label, in a proportion not exceeding that indicated in the
c or r e sp o nd i n g l i ne of c o lu m n I I :

N o d r in k r e fe rr e d t o in subregulation (1) hereof shall be described as alcohol free unless it
c on t a in s le s s t h a n 0 ,0 5 % a lc o h ol by v ol u m e .
