FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April, 2013

Victoria, BC

Inspired by the ongoing success of Intrepid

Theatre’s UNO Fest, Mr uG Productions! presents

Little Fernwood UFO (Uno Festival Offsite), a satellitefestival of one-person shows running May 22 to June

2 at the Little Fernwood Hall with a mascot of an unidentified floating black box.

Little Fernwood UFO includes Where’s My Flying

Car?!, written and performed by Missie Peters; The

Big Smoke, written by Ron Fromstein and performed by Jeremy Banks; Cougar Annie Tales, written and performed by Katrina Kadoski; and rounded out with

Dave Morris’ latest improv creation, Lost in Space.

(Winnipeg Free Press, 2011) as he explores the highs and lows of realizing that neither Toronto nor himself are quite what he believes.

Katrina Kadoski’s Cougar Annie Tales returns to

Victoria to tell the incredible legend of Cougar Annie, the fiercely independent West Coast pioneer who trapped more than 70 cougars, homesteaded a rainforest bog, opened a remote post office and outlived four husbands.

In this “well polished cultural addition to Vancouver

Island’s heritage” (Times Colonist, 2012), Kadoski explores Cougar Annie’s life through letters, music and multi-character perspectives in this one-woman show that has gone on to independently tour Vancouver Island since Fringe 2012.

Where’s My Flying Car?!

features the spoken word, poetry and acting of Missie Peters as she explores the hopes and dreams of a generation that was promised science-fiction come to life, but was delivered very different results. Described as “inherently sassy”

(Times Colonist, 2012) and filled with an “emotional resonance ... even Spock couldn’t deny” (CVV

Magazine), you don’t want to miss this latest iteration of Where’s my Flying Car?!, having been redeveloped for touring since its Victoria debut as a reading at

Uno Fest 2012.

Returning to the Victoria stage for the first time since

2010, Jeremy Banks brings The Big Smoke back to life as he tells the tale of small town and slightly homophobic Tommy as he moves to Toronto, gets a job and starts sleeping with men. Described as a

“sleeper hit of the fringe” (Times Colonist, 2010), The

Big Smoke premiered in Victoria before touring the fringe festival circuit to sold-out shows in Winnipeg and Edmonton. Be sure to catch Jeremy Banks’

“awkward combination of trepidation and bravado”

Rounding out Little Fernwood UFO is Dave Morris,

Victoria’s acclaimed improv and theatre artist, presenting his new show Lost in Space . Described as a “natural comic” and bringing a sophisticated approach to improvisation that “[lets] things develop in a rich, multi-faceted manner.” (Times

Colonist, 2011), Dave explores the philosophies and never-ending darkness with the help of audience engagement and suggestions. Dave’s work has contributed to the success of theme-improv group

Paper Street Theatre and their latest sold-out production Yes and Yesteryear: An Improvised Jane

Austen. Don’t miss the latest creation from this master of the improv art.

Little Fernwood UFO and these award-winning shows could not be presented without the help of sponsors

Intrepid Theatre, Fernwood Community Association and Langham Court Theatre.

Mr uG Productions! is the working company of Graham uG McDonald.
