Excelsior Correspondent UDHAMPUR, May 12: General Secretary, Pradesh Youth Congress RS Pathania appealed the Government and the Department of Agriculture for carving out a comprehensive policy regarding attracting the rural youth towards farming, organic farming, watersheds and adopting modern and non-conventional techniques of cultivation. He said this after interacting with rural youth in various parts of Jammu province. Pathania appealed the Government and particularly ministry/Department of Agri- culture, for launching of certain crash measures with a view to luring the new generation for fresh ventures and projects in the field of agriculture. The youth should be encouraged to rely more on cash crops. Government has to make a provision for incentives and training programmes for the rural youth with a view to making them self-sufficient and selfdependent. For proper development and flourishment of J&K, it is most imperative that majority of the potential and human resource of rural youth be utilised and channelised in the field of agriculture, Pathania added. SSH demands appropriate steps for release of Indian PoWs Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, May 12: Shiv Sena Hindustan (SSH) today slammed Union Government for allegedly failing to take steps to secure the release of Indian Prisoners of Wars (PoWs) languishing in Pakistani jails. Amid slogans, the protesters led by Shiv Sena Hindustan State president Rajesh Kesari assembled at Kachi Chawni and burnt an effigy of the Congressled UPA Government. They demanded appropriate steps to be taken to ensure the release of Indian PoWs, who were held in jails of Pakistan for the last four decades. While speaking, Rajesh Kesari said that the Central Government is not serious about 1971-war prisoners who have been languishing in Pakistani jails for the last 43 years. He added that neither was the Government helping out the families of Indian PoWs who continue to live in despair. "Government should extend a helping hand to the families of the PoWs, so that they don't have to face any hardships and their children get educated. They deserve at least this much", he said.
