Technical Support for Faculty
As we continue to integrate LearningStudio more extensively into all of our academic environments,
there will continue to be occasions where faculty need support in the efforts that they are making. We
would like all of our faculty, including Residential Campus to know that there are resources and support
available. Here is a list of valuable assets:





The IWU Knowledge Base (https://kb.indwes.edu/Web/LearningStudio/Faculty_Guide)
provides an impressive collection of step-by-step directions for completing many of the tasks in
LearningStudio.
Inside each course, if you click on the “Help” button on the top toolbar, you will gain access to a
searchable database related to the tools and functionalities of LearningStudio.
Inside each course, if you click on the “Tech Support” button on the top toolbar, you will gain
information on how to contact the Pearson support desk (either by email, chat, or telephone).
These services are available 24/7.
The IWU Support Desk is available by calling 677-2209

CLI Staff Promotion
We are very pleased to announce the promotion of Erin Crisp to the position of Director of

Erin came to IWU in the fall of 2013 as a full time instructional designer and has been involved in
course development, curriculum mapping, our competency based learning initiative, as well as other
committee assignments.
Erin received her master’s degree in Instructional Design and Development from Towson University
in MD, and her bachelor’s degree in Secondary English from IWU. She was recognized with several
awards through that time, a few of which include:

Next Generation Digital Campus
Important Reminders……
Pearson Support
Pearson support information is located in Learning Studio courses under the Tech Support tab in the
header. You can call, instant message, or email their support team.
Communication Hub
The communication hub is your central location for information regarding what’s current and what’s
coming in our Digital Campus. The link is located in the “Top Tools” or “Top Links” menu on the
right side of the page.
Coursesmart to VitalSource Transition April 2015
This will only affect students and faculty using our ebook bundles, but if you haven’t heard, VitalSource,
an ereader company, bought Coursesmart (our current ereader) last year. As a consequence, they are
going to be phasing out Coursesmart and moving all of their customers to the VitalSource ereader. In
the long run, this will have several advantages for us, but in the short run, we will have to make that
switch. The date is set for April 3rd and there will be many more notices about the transition strategy
and the opportunity for training. Please don’t fret about this! If you are comfortable at all with the
Coursesmart ebooks, you will find VitalSource to be very accommodating. Again, more about this
transition to follow in the coming weeks.
Course Content Link
We now have an avenue for students and adjuncts to notify school leaders when they find an error in
their course. The “Course Content Issue Form” is in every Non-Residential course under “IWU
Resources.” The link will open a form which is auto filled with the user information. The user may then
submit the description of the issue. The form is sent to a designated person at the school to evaluate
the request and resolve the issue.
Internet Browser Compatibility
We have had a few questions from students about their browsers and the compatibility with Learning
Studio as well as course supplemental products (MyLabs etc). We just want all of our folks to be
aware that there is support for this in the course. If you encounter a student that appears to be having
trouble please alert them to the following information.
3
We recommend the most current versions of Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer. If they are not
sure if their browser is up to date, inside of every course is a browser test. To access this test click on
the directions below.
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Go inside of any LearningStudio course.
Click “IWU Resources” (Students and Faculty have access to this item).
Scroll down to “Internet Browser Compatibility.”
Click on the red “Browser Test” link.
Follow the instructions on the screen. Note: If Java (as an example) is out of date, a pop-up
will appear asking you to Update, Block, or Allow. Click “Allow” and a new page will appear
displaying what needs to be installed with a quick and easy download button.
If they experience any technical issues, IWU Support is at 765-677-2209 or x2209 or toll free at 877489-5678
