Prerequisites: Current Firefighter Level II certification, Hazardous Materials
Operations (VA), IS 700, 100 & 200. The cost of the deposit will include the
following: IFSTA “Fire & Emergency Services Instructor”; 7th ed. Textbook & VDFP 7th
ed. Instructor 1 Candidate Package and IFSTA: “Fire & Emergency Services
Instructor”; 7th ed. Study Guide. Individuals are also required to bring a blank
VHS/Cassette Tape, or CD Rom as specified by the Instructor for recording
presentations.

Candidate Package Officer 1 & IFSTA: “Fire & Emergency Services Company
Officer”, 4th ed. Study Guide.
**** Per the Department of Fire Programs, all students are required to take the
eight (8) hour “Writing for the Fire Service” on-line tutorial on the “Knowledge
Center” at www.vafire.com, within 60 days of the start of the class. A printed
certificate from the on-line tutorial will be required from each student on day
one.***

A deposit fee will be required for each course. This deposit for each course will be
the cost of the materials for that class. For example: Instructor I - $55.00. If you
do not show up for class you forfeit this cost. If you do not need course materials,
the deposit will be returned to you. You will not be signed up for the class until
the deposit has been received. If you do not cancel ONE week in advance of
the class, you will forfeit your deposit. This allows us time to get in touch
with those on the wait list. No exceptions. Thank you!
