Reality Show Profiles Professional Paintball Players
October 8, 2007 — Houston, TX — SPLAT! Mad-Croc Brands, Inc. is helping to bring
the energy of the top extreme sport in America, paintball, to television with a
sponsorship of Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint. This new reality show, to air on Fox
Sports Net in October through December, covers the lives, training and competitive
nature of the National Professional Paintball League (known as the NPPL).
“Our new television campaign features real-life situations in which people need energy
and what could be more real than a hard-hitting game of paintball?” says Colin Hall,
energy guru and Chief Marketing Officer for Mad-Croc Brands, Inc.
“In the big picture, we’ve been steadily building our portfolio of extreme sports
sponsorships, like auto racing, marathon swimming, competitive video gaming and the
World Series poker. These sports along with NPPL appeal to our target market of young
adults who may are in need of everyday, portable energy solutions.
The Sporting Goods Manufacturer’s Association estimates that over 10 million people
play paintball annually in the United States alone. This rapidly growing sport is definitely
not for couch potatoes! Players can burn an estimated 450 calories per hour, equivalent
to playing other sports, like tennis, bicycling or running.
“The sport is about strategy, not just hiding behind a bunker with a paintball gun. It
requires quick thinking and fast movement,” says Hall, “Players definitely break a sweat
and need physical and mental energy to stay on top of their game.” SPLAT! He
continues, “Hey, I said no paintball in the office!”
Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint will be available in 89 million households for its first
