Course Overview:
This course will present an overview of the marketing challenges faced by organizations in international
business environments and provide a framework that can be used to guide international marketing
decisions. Emphasis will be placed on the role that marketing managers play in designing marketing
strategies to cope with the cultural, social, economic, political, and legal differences found in the
international marketplace.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. understand the challenges faced by the international marketing managers,
2. recognize the factors that affect international marketing decisions,
3. identify basic marketplace indicators of international marketing opportunities,
4. analyze situations commonly faced by international managers, and
5. develop simple international marketing plans.

A packet of reading materials will be available on fronter.
Assessment:
Student grades are based on the following assessments:
Class participation (5% of grade)
Students are required to be in class every day. Your participation grade is a qualitative assessment, by me,
based on your attendance, your participation in class discussions, and your performance on assignments.
Students will receive a score on a scale from 0 to 100.
Exercises (20% of grade)
There will be a number of exercises given during the semester. These assignments will not be announced
ahead of time. Each assignment is will be worth 100 points. Your grades on the exercises will be
averaged together to form a single score.
Quizzes (20% of grade)
There will be a vocabulary quiz at the beginning of class. Students arriving late to class will not be
allowed to take the quiz and will receive a 0. The first quiz will be on Wednesday, May 29th, and the last
will be on Tuesday, June 11th. Each quiz will be worth 100 points. Your grades on the quizzes will be
averaged together to form a single score.
Examinations (55% of grade)
There will be three (3) examinations over the course of the class. Each will cover 1/3 of the material from
the course. Each test will be worth 100 points. Your grades on the examinations will be averaged together
to form a single score.
Course grades
Grades will be calculation as follows:
(.05)(participation evaluation) + (.20)(average of exercises) + (.20)(average of quizzes) + (.55)(average of exams)
Letter grades
A = 90-100
B = 80-89
C = 70-79
D = 60-69
F = below 50
Note: There will be no make-ups for
missed assignments.
