T e xt Re spo nse
So me presentatio ns were valuable. It was also great to netwo rk with o ther adviso rs/administrato rs.

Netwo rking
So me very timely sessio ns with to pics I am charged with leading in o ur scho o l.

Was a great o ppo rtunity to netwo rk with o ther pro fessio nals.
There were a lo t o f great co nference sessio ns o n Financial Literacy and helping students o n pro batio n that I fo und incredibly helpful. It was also nice to netwo rk with o ther
pro fessio nals o utside o f the UW System.
netwo rking, co nnecting with new regio n (had been adviso r in previo us regio n)
It was nice to be able to netwo rk with o ther advising pro fessio nals and share so me best practices.
great info rmatio n I can apply back at my scho o l
The keyno te was fantastic and it was nice to learn abo ut o thers' pro grams and ideas.
I particularly appreciated the insights into Adviso r training and develo pment.
Netwo rking was key.
I attended several sessio ns where I learned info rmatio n that I can use in my adivsing o r my teaching.
Valuable to present, to co llabo arate, to build fro m o thers ideas and to make co nnectio ns with o thers who do what I do at their institutio n. We bro ught faculty fro m o ur
institutio n and I think it is wo nderful fo r them to be expo sed to Advising as a pro fessio n and passio n thro ugh thequality o f the o rganizatio n and co nference.
Interesting to pics.
It was a great learning experience since I was also presenting fo r the first time.
As always - being able to hear what is happening in the field and see new and inno vative practices in advising
I liked the length, the variety o f co ncurrent sessio n, the netwo rking with co lleagues and the fo o d!
I came back energized and fo cused o n helping students.
It was a great chance to meet o ther pro fessio nals in the regio n!
I'm new to NACADA, and this was GREAT to meet new co lleagues & netwo rk. Also , the pro gram sessio ns were great!
Great discussio n with co lleagues and excellent sessio ns. Again, bro ught back lo ts o f go o d ideas I can implement.
Netwo rking, so me great sessio ns
New ideas, research sessio ns, assessment sessio ns
I appreciated hearing ideas fro m o ther campuses that I co uld bring back to my campus. I came back fro m the co nference with a lo t o f new ideas.
I always enjo y meeting my co lleagues in the pro fessio n and making the co nnectio ns that will help me in my jo b. This co nference expanded my co nnectio ns to o ther states
and pro vinces which I really appreciated.
Go t to netwo rk with pro fessio nals, attend sessio ns that were interesting to me, valuable to my perso nal pro fessio nal develo pment, and will be useful when applied at my
current institutio n.
Co ncurrent sessio ns were excellent this year.
Kno wledge o f what o ther institutio ns are do ing to suppo rt their students.
Netwo rking
I enjo y hearing and learning abo ut the inno vative ideas that o ther scho o ls are emplo ying o n their campuses.
I learned what o ther institutio ns are do ing and ways to inco rpo rate tho se ideas into my advising.
netwo rking.
Netwo rking
Numero us cho ices to fit needs o f bo th pro fessio nal adviso r, and faculty adviso r.
netwo rking
Great way to build co nnectio ns and be renewed/re-energized
It permitted me to hear fro m o ther adviso rs and receive a general understanding o f advising fro m bro ader view.
It was valuable fo r me to hear abo ut the latest research o n students o f co lo r and advising; specifically African American students attending PWIs.
Being o ut and co nnecting with peo ple.
Quality sessio ns that pro vide o ppo rtunity fo r kno wledge creatio n and applicatio n are great when they happen. Unfo rtunately, o nly 2 o f the 6 sessio ns I attended were
designed with the learner in mind.
I fo und the keyno te speaker o utstanding. His perspective o n advising and the affect higher ed pro fessio nals have o n the develo pment o f students was interesting. He was
very engaging. I think he reinfo rce the impo rtance o f advising to student develo pment. The sessio ns were very well presented, the info rmatio n was helpful. I felt I gained
info rmatio n fro m each sessio n, that I will utilize.
I do n't wo rk in a traditio nal advising unit and my campus is decentralized, so so metimes it's to ugh to see what o ther departments are do ing and what's wo rking fo r them. I
learned a lo t fro m this co nference, and go t a lo t o f ideas to bring back to my campus.
Go t so me go o d nuggets fro m the sessio ns. Was able to share with o thers so me o f what o ur institutio n is do ing that might be o f interest.
so me really go o d ideas
It was wo nderful to be able to netwo rk with peers fro m acro ss the regio n and disco ver that we all face the same challenges.
I enjo yed learning abo ut what o ther institutio ns are do ing, what I might be able to do at my institutio n, and future reco mmendatio ns.
Always a go o d way to gather new ideas and see what o ther institutio ns are do ing to better serve students. Hando uts and netwo rking was also very helpful
to catch up with co lleauges, learn similar pro grams at o ther scho o ls face similar issues, learn mo re abo ut so me great theo ry into practice
time to netwo rk, learn abo ut ways to be invo lved with NACADA, and pre-co nference and co nference sessio ns
I like attending the regio nal and annual co nferences to re-energize me. So metimes the sessio ns are to o specific to a particular institutio n to be so mething that I can take
back to use here but o ther times I get so me ideas that are wo rth bringing back to try.
Helpful to meet o ther adviso rs fro m aro und the regio n, as well as learn so me practices that have wo rked well fo r adviso rs facing similar pro blems I'm facing.
Netwo rking, recharge/reinvigo rate enthusiasm fo r advising
It's always nice to step away fro m campus to netwo rk with o thers and spend time reflecting o n ho w to impro ve o ur advising practice.
Go o d netwo rking and go o d sessio ns. Co nference co mmittee well prepared
netwo rking, new ideas, inspiratio n
The depth o f the to pics co vered were no t o nly fo r new adviso rs, but really spo ke to me as a seaso ned adviso r such as wo rking with undo cumented students and ways to
impro ve o rientatio n pro gram.
netwo rking with co lleagues
Just go o d to hear ho w o thers deal with advising issues/student pro blems Pro vided lo ts o f idea related with ho w to address certain issues
Great sessio n to pics
It was wo nderful to present to gain pro fessio nal develo pment. I also enjo yed meeting co lleagues fro m aro und the state, but also aro und the regio n.
Great takeaways fro m co ncurrent sessio ns
Netwo rking and learning abo ut pro grams fro m o ther universities
I learned a lo t fro m hearing o ther pro fessio nals' experience in similar situatio ns to mine.
Sharing with peers
It was go o d to netwo rk with o ther co llege perso nnel
Netwo rking, pro fessio nal develo pment, seeing what is wo rking well fo r o ther institutio ns
Netwo rking with co lleagues, getting so me new/fresh ideas to bring back to my institutio n
Great ideas o f exemplary practices.
Go o d info rmatio n fro m presenters, go o d netwo rking o ppo rtunities
learning abo ut o n co urse
Practical info rmatio n and ideas to use at my institutio n and inspiratio n fo r my wo rk.
Co nnecting with co lleagues and sharing o f info rmatio n.
netwo rking with o ther adviso rs alo ng with elective individuals with NACADA
I liked learning new ideas o n ho w to impro ve academic advising practices, and was impressed with the amo unt o f pro fessio nal develo pment-o riented sessio ns.
So me o f the sessio ns were very info rmative. It was great to spend a few days fo cused o n pro fessio nal develo pment and advising best practices.
Great, lo w-key/info rmal atmo sphere to co nnect with o ther co lleagues acro ss the regio n.
I will be able to use so me o f what I learned to wo rk with o ur at-risk students.
Mo ments o f inspiratio n, to remind me why what I am do ing is wo rth do ing.
It go t me thinking abo ut a number o f things in new ways.
I liked meeting full-time advisers and listening to to pics they fo und relevant
This was a wo nderful o ppo rtunity to netwo rk and learn mo re abo ut the advising pro fessio n.
Emphasizing best practices.
Netwo rking was great. It was nice to hear what was happening at o ther institutio ns.
I think that the sessio ns were really go o d. I enjo yed hearing inno vative ideas and learning abo ut best practices that are being used at o ther universities. By attending this
co nference, I was definitely able to identify the areas o ur department is do ing well in and the areas that we need to impro ve.
I'm a new adviso r. The co nference was a wo nderful way to intro duce me to relevant issues and gain insight into to o ls, skills and practices o thers use in their advising.
Learning best practices accro ss the regio n, co nnecting with co lleagues.
Getting ideas fro m o ther institutio ns o n what wo rked/didn't wo rk and thinking abo ut ho w I co uld bring back to my institutio n.
The ideas presented suppo rt what I already do . Additio nally, I go t so me new ideas to try.
netwo rking with o thers. attending sessio ns.
Started to do so me netwo rking with new peo ple. Go t to hear so me practices that I think we can inco rpo rate within o ur divisio n.
I liked hearing fro m o ther similiar-size institutio ns (as o ppo sed to state co nferences - we are the largest university in o ur state so so metimes it's hard to gain transferrable
info rmatio n/ideas fro m the o ther state institutio ns)
As a graduate student I appreciated the variety o f sessio ns that o ffered o ppo rtunities fo r bo th perso nal and pro fessio nal gro wth. The exchange o f info rmatio n & ideas in all
the sessio ns I attended was quite valuable. Netwo rking o ppo rtunities were also appreciated.
Great to netwo rk with o ther individuals fro m lo cal institutio ns.
Hearing abo ut the initiatives o f co lleagues in similar ro les and institutio ns
There were so me really great presentatio ns. I do n't attend co nferences fo r the netwo rking aspect, especially regio nal o nes, but I really value the presentatio ns that were
diverse and had an actual plan in place, no t just peo ple talking abo ut what wo rked fo r them in their scho o l.

Better descriptio ns o f the sessio ns and maybe state who the sessio n is mo st appro priate. (i.e. Ho Chunk sessio ns were go o d, but no t very relevant to no n-Wisco nsin

Many o f the wo rksho ps I attended lacked fo cus and had little to do with their titles. I'm no t sure if there's a way to change this in the future, but it was a disappo inting aspect
o f the co nference fo r sure.
Put mo re sessio ns o n Thursday afterno o n. It was weird to have a break after the State Meetings and then co me back fo r Pat McCurdy.
Sessio n titles/descriptio ns were po sted very late. Gave little time to review o ptio ns due to o pening evening events and early mo rning schedule.
PLEASE, please, please have at least o ne sessio n where the fo cus is distance learning.
Mo re external activities-co uld no t find the ILACADA so cial.
I believe that it wo uld be helpful to identify whether the presenters identify as faculty o r pro fessio nal academic adviso rs.
I tho ught breakfast started a little early and I wo uld like to see healthier fo o d o ptio ns.
Mo re 2 year fo cused sessio ns. Very heavy 4 year fo cus.
I was disappo inted by the wasted o ppo rtunity fo r mo re do ing. The sessio ns were go o d fo r talking at us but it wo uld have been great to see so me things in actio n. I feel
there sho uld have been co mputers set up fo r us to see so me o f the to o ls discussed - Kent University's o nline pro batio n co urse, ability to take the StrengthQuest

Make sure the sessio ns EXPAND upo n what the attendees wo uld already kno w - because they are cho o sing to attend, they likely already have an interest in the to pic

I wo uld like to see better quality sessio ns. The to pics co vered at all o f the co nferences that I have attended are repetitive. I wo uld like to see new research- new to pics!
No ntraditio nal student advising, o nline advising strategies
Maybe a sessio n just o n netwo rking with each o ther because so metimes casual chatting wo rks better-like a speed dating...
Did no t find the new members o rientatio n useful.
break do wn sessio ns by experience, so me were beginning level and impo rtant, just no t to me better use o f techno lo gy, have hando uts available o nline
Pro vide sessio ns mo re than o nce so that they can be attended
I highly enjo yed the sessio ns o n research findings. I also was interested in attending sessio ns that presented practical ideas o n advising issues.
I felt that the sessio ns were to o narro w in sco pe. The majo rity o f sessio n I attended were fo cused o n institutio nal type, ho wever, that was no t clear in the sessio n
descriptio n. I wish it were mo re clear so that I co uld have made mo re info rmed cho ices.
I believe that the served meals were very po pular with mo st peo ple, but as a perso n with really specific dietary restrictio ns (diabetic + pregnant) a buffet might be better to
co bble to gether things I can/sho uld eat. I kno w I'm a mino rity in this, but so mething to co nsider.
Perhaps NACADA sho uld develo p pro fessio nal develo pment o ppo rtunities o n designing and facilitating effective wo rksho ps/sessio ns.
I tho ugh the po ster presentatio n was a little difficult access. It wo uld have been nice to do the sessio n during the break in the afterno o n o n day o ne. I fo und it difficult to get
to the po sters between breakfast, business meeting and traveling to the next sessio n.
Make sure sessio ns are described accurately in the bo o klet. One o f mine wasn't, and it was a go o d presentatio n, but I was very disappo inted and wo uld have preferred to
attend so mething mo re relevant to my po sitio n.

There needs to be a clo sing wrap up sessio n! There was no clo sing sessio n which made the co nference seem so uno rganized. Everyo ne sho uld be bro ught to gether with
a farewell speech, wo rds o f wisdo m, etc.
To pics: Career Advising, serving under-prepared students, putting theo ry into actio n, lo w-budget ideas with high impact
give mo re info rmatio n to presenters and send fo llo w-up info rmatio n when yo u say yo u will send info rmatio n; tabulate the co nference sessio n evals rather then just
sending the filled in evals to co nference presenters
I was disappo inted by the business meeting. I do n't think having it in the same lo catio n as breakfast was the best plan. That made it feel mandato ry, and I think it wo uld have
been better to have it be in a smaller lo catio n, even tho ugh there likely wo uld have been fewer peo ple attending.
Mo re faculty presenters and mo re sessio ns aimed at advising administrato rs.
mo re o n assessment
mo re diverse sessio ns--sessio ns abo ut adult learners, o nline learning, and techno lo gy.
There wasn't really a clo sing/wrap-up. I wo rked at the evals table and a lo t o f peo ple came by to give us their nametag ho lders because registratio n was clo sed at that
po int. Mo re in-depth co ncurrent sessio ns. Mo st spend half the time talking abo ut what we already kno w (i.e. describing the pro blem to o much) and spent to o little time
talking abo ut so lutio ns/takeaways.
I wo uld like to see the sessio ns have a no te in their descriptio n if the pro gram is mo stly go ing to co ver a particular pro gram that was develo ped. I went to several sessio n
thinking I was go ing to build skills that I needed as an adviso r and instead I learned abo ut ho w a co llege develo ped a pro gram o n their campus. Since a lo t o f pro grams
canno t always be develo ped at a different sized institutio n

I wish that the co nference was held in April. Madiso n is a great to wn with lo ts o f o ppo rtunities to walk aro und and it's so co ld in March!
Breakfast sho uld always be buffet style. Also please add Oatmeal to breakfast cho ices. Otherwise all go o d.
since regio n 5 is in the midwest...and its no rmally co ld until abo ut late march early april, regio n V co nference sho uld be held in April- as o ppo sed to regio n 4 being in april
(plus is always nicer weather in regio n 4).
no need fo r seco nd entertainment o ptio n as fewer attended.
mo re to pics o r related to pics to no n-traditio nal/adult and distance/o nline students
I think a mo re in-depth research wo rksho p wo uld be a great pre-co nference sessio n.
Wo rking with at-risk students, mo tivatio nal interviewing used in advising, retentio n.
On the registratio n fo rm, add a "this sessio n clo sed" to the pre-co nference wo rksho ps info rmatio n o n the website. I fo ught with the o nline fo rm to try to add two wo rksho ps
when it wo uld o nly let me do o ne; I presume it was because o ne was clo sed but do n't kno w.
I think the pro fessio nalism o f the co nference needs to increase. Jeans and sweatshirts seem highly inappro priate fo r a pro fessio nal co nference and we are no t o n
bo arding new academic advisers well into the pro fessio n. I take my jo b very serio usly and I want o ther to respect what I do .
Mo re presentatio ns abo ut research to add to the presentatio ns abo ut institutio n's current pro grams.
I do n't feel like there was much that I co uld take back to my institutio n and implement. It felt mo stly like presentatio ns that just explained what peo ple were do ing. While I did
find it interesting to hear what o ther scho o ls do , it was no t the pro fessio nal develo pment experience that I was ho ping it wo uld be.
I wo uld reco mmend that we have mo re sessio ns. It was disappo inting that there were so many great sessio ns but we co uld o nly attend 7 o f tho se sessio ns. I wo uld
reco mmend extending the co nference o ut into Friday evening. The co nference co uld end at 4:0 0 pm wo uld give individual plenty o f time to get back ho me, but wo uld also
allo w co nference attendees the o ppo rtunity to go to a few mo re sessio ns.
Perhaps Dr. Martin co uld present a sessio n (o r series o f sessio ns): "Develo ping a Visio n fo r the Academic Experience and Translating it to Advisees." This generatio n o f
co llege students is very pragmatic. It seems they do n't kno w ho w to engage in curio sity, explo ratio n, and the jo y o f learning. I wo uld lo ve to find a way to enco urage
students to embrace the breadth o f the co llege experience.
I tho ught it was a great co nference!
Buffet meals fo r all pro vided meals o r pro vide o ptio ns - a lo t o f fo o d was wasted due to individual fo o d preferences. Also , wo uld lo ve fo r keyno te to be so meo ne who has
primarily wo rked in ADVISING. Keyno te was great, but wo uld like so meo ne fro m advising side o f things!
Have an o pen fo rum to facilitate a discussio n o n advising tips by type o f institutio n (co mmunity co llege, 4 year, private, etc.)
I think the co mmittee's right o n track. I think there's a number o f peo ple who wo rk with pro batio n students and they do take up a number o f o ur time and reso urces.
Try and plan the so cial events clo ser to the actual sessio ns. The o pening meet and greet was kind o f 'by itself' in that there were o nly pre-co nference wo rksho ps befo re it
so I imagine it made it harder fo r peo ple to want to co me. Similarly there was a big break between the co nference sessio ns and the so cial the seco nd night.
My o nly reco mmendatio n fo r future co nferences is to allo w mo re time fo r the po ster sessio n, an ho ur during breakfast just wasn't eno ugh time to view even half o f the
presenters displays.
sessio ns fo cusing o n STEMM (additio nall M being Medicine) and wo rk being do ne with underrepresented students in this area
Sessio n(s) o n ho w to gro w pro fessio nally and co ntribute while nearing the end o f o ne's career in higher ed (e.g., w/in 5 years o f retirement). So me began advising later in
career and o thers have been advising fo r mo st o f it. What are the jo ys/challenges o f advising while nearing retirement? Impact o n self, students, co lleagues? Ho w can
administrato rs suppo rt and even pro mo te these staff members?
Mo re speakers/presentatio ns fro m the technical co llege o r 2 year co llege system. It seemed like this year there was a very small o ffering o f no n-traditio nal co llege
o fferings. Also , have mo re interesting o fferings o n the last day. It seemed like attendance was very lo w o n Friday co mpared to Thursday and the presentatio n o fferings
weren't nearly as interesting and engaging.
The o nline registratio n system was no t particularly user friendly. Many presenters did no t bring hando uts. While I understand wanting to be eco -friendly, I appreciate having
hando uts o n which to take my no tes.
Mo re hands-o n sessio ns. Utilize the public area o f the venues to have mo re displays.
I wo uld make sure to have a buffet at all the meals. If there is o nly o ne o ptio n made available (lunch), the variety is very limited. The breakfast o n Friday (3-7-14) was
o utstanding!!!
I'd like to see greater prep by the presenters - there were so me that clearly had decided to present first and then fo und a to pic, o r presented so mething like 'Here's what we
tried last year, maybe it wo rked but we do n't have evidence, and I do n't kno w ho w yo u co uld apply it at yo ur co llege.' That's no t to o helpful. Peo ple sho uld do so mething
aweso me first, then tell us abo ut it.
Enco urage mo re sessio ns o n adult learners, graduate students and veterans.
Mo re faculty presenters, great o pening!
To o many cho ices at each given time, wo uld have liked to attend so me that were co ncurrent
The sessio n descriptio ns seemed to be a bit misleading, maybe mo re specific detailed info o f what to expect to be co vered.
Perhaps make so me o f the mo re po pular sessio ns repeating so that if yo u mo re than o ne sessio n yo u're interested in, the decisio n making is easier.
Directio ns fo r presenters co uld be mo re clear; I did no t receive any co mmunicatio n ahead o f time abo ut ro o m set-up, equipment that wo uld be available, the pro cess fo r
distributing and co llecting feedback fro m audience members, o r ho w I wo uld o btain that feedback.
I really like ho w every sessio n I went to had a go o d amo unt o f peo ple. Co mpared to so me o f the o ther regio n co nferences, where I have seen numero us sessio ns with
less than 10 peo ple attending. That just feels awkward fo r attendees and presenters.

We had a great time in Wisco nsin...great jo b!
Mo re attendance at po ster sessio n if no t so early and o n last day, especially fo r tho se who need to drive back to their campuses
My o nly criticism is that there were no reso urces o r sessio ns fo cusing o n distance learning students. As an adviso r fo r a distance-o nly pro gram this was a little
disheartening. I did enjo y the co nference o verall and did find so me things that I can adapt to the o nline enviro nment.
I was surprised that mo re presenters didn't pro vided hando uts and the o nes that did, didn't have eno ugh fo r everyo ne.
As a graduate student, it was impo ssible to attend Wed and difficult to attend two mo re weekdays. If mo st o f the co nference co uld be held thro ugh Friday, it wo uld be much
easier to co me.
Great jo b!
Please do no t serve po rk at every scheduled meal. Many peo ple have dietary and/o r religio us restrictio ns aro und po rk. It is insensitive to serve at bo th breakfast and lunch.
Thanks fo r having a vegetarian o ptio n fo r tho se who do no t eat po rk, tho ugh.
Overall, a wo nderful experience that has cemented my desire to wo rk as an academic adviso r. The pro fessio nal develo pment that I experienced at NACADA Regio n V will
help me be a better graduate student and will make me a mo re co mpetent, co mpetitive candidate when I go to jo b search next year.
I believe it was best co nference that I have attended in years. The speakers were o utstanding, the sessio ns were excellent and the co nference space was beautiful. I fo und
the co nference to be extremely o rganized. I am pleased to have attended it. Thank yo u!
the Emerging Leaders Pro gram lo o ks aweso me!
Super co nference co mmittee - very acco mmo dating and kno wledgeable. A seamless effo rt.
Our financial services o ffice, had difficulty with the two receipts (co nference and membership). There was a co nfirmatio n email fo r the co nference but no t the membership. If
the receipts need to be separate, then at least send bo th in o ne email to keep it straight. Also , the co mmunicatio n with the presenters was po o r. We didn't have a
co nfirmatio n email with presenter details.
The registratio n pro cess was very po o r-every member o f o ur o ffice ran into a different glitch and had to call the main number fo r help. The NACADA o ffice was very nice
when called. I lo o k fo rward to seeing an email anno uncement o f the best pro gram sessio n and po ster sessio n so I can see if the o nes I vo ted fo r wo n.
The partitio ns between ro o ms at the co nference center were no t ideal. I had at least 2 sessio ns where the perso n next do o r was lo uder than the presenter in my ro o m.
sessio ns were disappo inting.
The fo o d cho ices were very limited - it wo uld have been nice to have mo re cho ice fo r breakfast/lunch
*I didn't think there was eno ugh fo o d fo r lunch. I kept waiting fo r the next co urse and it never came. The quality o f the fo o d was excellent, but it was a pretty light lunch. *The
lo catio n o f the desserts during break was VERY inco nvenient - in a narro w hallway where everyo ne is co ming in and o ut o f sessio ns - sho uld have do ne it near the
ballro o m o r near the huge windo ws o verlo o king the lake.
I feel the po ster sessio n co uld have been scheduled fo r a time when attendees weren't mo re distracted with getting breakfast. Maybe at the end o f day 1, when the mo st
attendees are still aro und and are able to spend mo re dedicated time speaking with po ster presenters and reading the material.
The meals were fabulo us! Thanks fo r putting to gether such a great event.
LOOOOOOOOVED the co ffee/treats in the afterno o n o n Thur!!!! That was just such a lo vely and delightful surprise :D I hate to admit it, but it was o ne o f the highlights o f my
co nference experience (no t that the rest o f the co nference wasn't great anyway... it was just such a lo vely surprise!!)
It was a great co nference!
Overall, I did have a go o d time at the co nference, but as I co ntinue in the functio nal area o f advising, I am no t sure ho w much I will be able to take away fro m the co nference
in the future.
Best o f the Regio n seemed unfair. So me presentatio ns were in much smaller ro o ms, meaning they co uld no t acco mo date a large eno ugh cro wd to ever win that prize. If
ro o m capacity is go ing to eliminate so me fro m co ntentio n right away, then there sho uldn't be a co mpetitio n. Auto matically presenting at NACADA is a big deal, and all
sho uld be o n a level playing field.
A big "Thank Yo u" to everyo ne who wo rked so hard to plan and execute the co nference. Great jo b!!!! Dr. Martin was o ne o f the mo st inspiring speakers I've heard in recent
years. He was fantastic and is able to articulate a visio n fo r educatio n and academia that is invaluable. His vo ice needs to be heard mo re o ften and o n a bro ader scale!! I
wish he co uld speak to o ur state legislato rs!!
Length o f sessio ns was go o d, time in between was go o d, start/end time was go o d.
This was a nice time to co nnect with co wo rkers.
I appreciated the effo rts NACADA to o k to reach o ut to new attendees. As a relatively new graduate student I attended the co nference by myself & was grateful fo r the
icebreaker o n Wed. Perhaps at future co nferences tables co uld be set aside fo r new/single attendees as a way to co ntinue meeting peo ple, especially fo r tho se who are
intro verts.
Vo lunteering pro cess was made very easy.
Thank yo u so much fo r being so acco mmo dating and well o rganized fo r tho se with fo o d allergies. That can so metimes be a stressful pro cess and yo u made everything
run so smo o thly and the banquet staff were very acco mmo dating as well.
Review the presentatio ns prio r to co nference. I attended 2 presentatio ns that were no t even clo sely related to the descriptio n and were a co mplete waste o f time fo r
academic adviso rs.
I was denied all funding fro m my institutio n. I received funding fro m OHAAA and KASADA, and o nly then was my institutio n willing to pay fo r my airfare ($30 0 )
The Regio n 5 Co nference was bo th fun and educatio nal. It was a great time to share Best Practices with o ther academic advisers fro m aro und Regio n 5.
I enjo yed the inital NACADA info rmatio n sessio n (held o n Wednesday night), but the ro o m was to o small. Also the activity that was planned was helpful to intro duce myself
to o ther new adviso rs, but it was to o lo ud fo r me to actually hear them. I think this time co uld have been spent better, perhaps as an o ppo rtunity fo r mento rs/mentees to
meet o ne ano ther and spend o ne-o n-o ne time to gether.
I rated the fo o d as po o r because I wro te o n my registratio n applicatio n that I wo uld wo uld need no n-po rk o ptio ns fo r religio us reaso ns. When I checked in, I tho ught this
wo uld be fine, because no o ne to ld me any different. Then, bo th meals that were sit-do wn had po rk in the main fo o d item. I was able to get a meal because a friend who
had vegetarian tickets was willing to share her fo o d.
Thanks to everyo ne who did the hard wo rk o f planning and executing the event!!
