A "Live-off-the-Land" party
was held on January 28th at
the home of Mr . and Mrs. William K. Marran of Demar Lane.
This is an annual event at which
all food is prepared and served
by the men, featuring all sorts
of game and seafood for which
the same group; of men fished
and hunted during the past season. Included on the menu were
oyrters , clams, mussels, venison,

The Bayport Fife and Drum
Corp s will be performing two
or thre e times on February 18th,
in front of the Methodist Hall.
Anyone who has not seen them
perform should do so at this
time. This group has b;en
selected to represent the United
States at the Canadian Exposition , on July 23rd. The appearances on February 18th will be
in connection with a white elephant sale being held to raise
the money necessary to finance
the group 's appearance in
Canada. $2,000 is the amount
which must be raised, and thi.
is only for the expenses of the
corps , all adults accompanying
them will pay their ov.n way .
Bayport Methodist Church is
participating in the World Day
of Prayer sponsored by tHfe Sayville Council of Church Women
United , and this year the host
is the Sayville Congregational
Church. Bayport residents are

A neighborhood meeting of
the Girl Scout leaders from Bayport and Blue Point was held at

A birthday party was held
last Tuesday in celebration of
William Norman's fourth birthday. Those attending were Patricia Norman , Davi d and Susan

son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard
P. Norman of Willow Street.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl B. Shene
of Snedecor Avenue , entertained Mrs. Shehe's mother, Mrs.
David Morris of Blue Point , on
Friday evening, on the occasion
of Mrs. Morris' birthday.
Mr. and Mrs . William H. MacGowan of Southampton jpsnt
several days last week at the
home of their daughter and sonin-law , Mr. and Mrs. Frank J.
Rivers of South Ocean Avenue.
Daniel Brunle , a freshman at
Becker Junior College, Worcester, Mass., has been at home
for the mid-semester vacation.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Pred Brunle of Renee Drive.
The Bayport Methodist Youth
Fellowship hel d a penny fair on
Saturday. Refreshments were
sold , and there were many entertaining booths which tiie
various members set up. The
fair was well attended and a
great success.yTlyj purpose of
the fair was to raise money
for MYF activities.

Avenue flew last Saturday to
Minneapolis, Minn, to attend
the funeral of h s mother, Mrs.
Anna Remme, who died on Friday. He was expected to return
Monday evening.
James Abel , son of Mr. and
Mrs . Frank Abel of Suydam
Lane, spent last weekend in
Washington , D. C. having won
a contest for newsboys run by
the Suffolk Sun.

To Hold Service
The Rev. George T. Pattison ,
D. D. B. A. will be the guest
speaker on Sunday at the' first
pi'j lic worship service for the
Sayville Community Church, an
independent full-Gospel Christian fellowship at the new Veterans Memorial Hall on Lakeland Avenue in Sayville.
The Rev. Mr. Pattison is
the former dean of St. Luke 's
Episcopal Cathedral, Prince Rupert Island , British Columbia.
For the past year he has been
behind the Iron Curtain and in
Europe visiting the churches
there.
He is presently with the Inter-Church Team Ministers in
Newhall , Calif.

to visit their son-in-law and

Pvt. Joseph Jurgens Jr. son
of Mr. and Mrs. Jurgens of Blue
Point Avenue, has graduated
from basic training at Fort Gordon, Ga. Pvt. Jurgens has been
assigned to advanced training in
Heavy Field Artillery' at Fort
Sill in Oklahoma. Pvt. Jurgens
was a graduate in the class of
19-6 at the James Wilson
Young High School.
Louise Pasternack, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Pasternack of Namkee Road , celebrated her 15th birthday last Friday
night with a swimming party at
Brookhaven National Laboratory followed by a pizza party
at Nancy 's Restaurant in Patchogue. Louise had as her guests
the following girls: her sister ,
Irene, Lee Franze. Ginny McLaughlin. Rose Mari e Palmquist ,
Debbie Wheat , Brigid Matejic ,
Nancy Lipson and Sylvia Turner.

attack of Jack Douglas Davis,
38, of East Islip, during a fire
at 1488 Locust Avenue, Bohemia , the name of Mrs. Oma
Tkacs should have been given
as the householder at that address. We regret the error.

Arthur E. Driseoll of 15 Palmcr Drive, Sayville, was ap
pointed secretary of the United
States Trust Company of New
York on Tuesday.
Mr. Driseoll. joined the company in i-62. A Brooklyn College g-.aduate, he was in the
United States Army and served
in Korea during 1B53 and 1954.
Mr. ' Driseoll was previously
with Boyd E. Wilson , and Company as a manager of commercial buildings.
