TORONTO POLICE SERVICE Sex Crimes Unit $50,000 REWARD A $50,000 Reward is being offered in the following two cases: 1. On June 10, 1992, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a 21-year-old woman was walking home in the Yonge Street/Balliol Street area in the city of Toronto. It is alleged that a man followed her into her apartment building and then into an elevator; at which time he brandished a handgun and forced her into a stairwell. The man sexually assaulted her at gun-point and fled the scene in an unknown direction. The woman assisted the Toronto Police Service’s forensic artist in producing a composite sketch of the man. 2. On May 3, 1985, at approximately 2:20 p.m., a 34-year-old woman was walking towards her vehicle in a multi-level parking garage on West Pender Street in the city of Vancouver. It is alleged that a man approached her, sexually assaulted her and robbed her. The forensic evidence in the above investigations has conclusively shown that the same man is responsible for both crimes. He has never been identified. In 1985, the man was described as: white, 25-30, 5’7”- 5’9”, with blonde, collar- length hair. In 1992, the man was described as: white, 25 -35, 5’4”, medium build, 150 – 160 lbs., small round face, brown or hazel eyes, collar-length light brown hair parted in the middle and feathered on the sides. He was armed with a semi-automatic pistol. Suspect’s Composite Sketch in 1992 with brown and blonde hair The Chief of Police, William Blair, has authorized a reward of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) from the Toronto Police Service for evidence leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible in this sexual assault investigation. (The following persons are not eligible to collect this reward (ineligible claimants): employees of law enforcement agencies, and their immediate family members; employees of correctional institutions and their immediate family members. This includes volunteer staff and their immediate family members. Immediate family member means a spouse, partner, parent, grandparent, child, grandchild or sibling, and include persons related through marriage (step and in-law relationships) and adoption). The reward is payable in Canadian Funds and shall be apportioned as the Toronto Police Service deems just. Claims will be recognized only when made in writing.
