IMPORTANT PRODUCT UPDATE
Reformulation of Nepro sip and tube feed to Nepro HP
Dear Customer,
We are writing to inform you of an important product update. Throughout October and
November 2013, the current formulation of Nepro will be discontinued, and we are
delighted to announce that a new formulation (Nepro HP) will be launching in its place.
This new product has a number of important differences that you need to be aware of and
it will require you to review and adjust your patients’ feeding regimens as appropriate, and
inform the patient’s GP as necessary.

What has changed?
Nepro will be discontinued, and a new formulation (Nepro HP) will be launching in its place.
The HP stands for High Protein, and this is to signify the increased protein content in this
new formulation.
Protein: based on customer feedback, protein levels have been increased from 7.0g (Nepro)
to 8.1g (Nepro HP) per 100ml, to meet the increased protein requirements of renal patients.
Carbohydrate: a new slow release carbohydrate blend has been used, which may aid the
control of blood glucose levels.
Energy: the energy content has decreased slightly from 2.0kcal/ml to 1.8kcal/ml.
Micronutrients: there have been multiple minor formulation changes.
Palatability: based on research with renal patients, the palatability of Nepro HP is preferred
overall to Nepro1*, which may aid compliance.
Presentation: we are delighted to announce that the 200ml tetrapaks will be replaced by
220ml easy to use2 recloseable plastic bottles, in both vanilla and strawberry flavours.
When will this transition happen?
Current stocks of Nepro will be depleted during October and November 2013, and
overlapping supplies of Nepro HP will become available to patients at the same time. We
expect a period of 1-2 months where both products will be available in the market, and we
will be working closely with wholesalers, pharmacies, and GPs to make sure this transition is
as seamless as possible.
What do I need to do?
Please review the nutritional profiles of both Nepro and Nepro HP (see appendix) and adjust
your patients’ feeding regimens as appropriate. Please inform the patient’s GP regarding the
name change and any other change in prescription as necessary.
If you wish to arrange a meeting, or to receive further information on Nepro HP, please do
not hesitate to contact your local Abbott Nutrition representative, visit our website at
www.abbottnutrition.co.uk or call our Freephone Nutrition Helpline on 0800 252882.
