Spanish empire and Philippines Adam : yellow Juan : green SLIDE 1 Juan: Today, we are going to talk about the Spanish Empire and the Philippines. SLIDE 2 Adam : Here are the questions we will talk about, today. SLIDE 3 Juan : So, the first question is : Why did the Spanish empire get big? SLIDE 4 Adam: ​
Because if colonisers have lots of colonies, the colonizers will have more power, money, land and resources.And they want the countries that they colonized to do work for the\ SLIDE 5 Juan : And then the next question is, how did the Spanish empire get big? SLIDE 6 Adam : By the wars. At that time, the Spanish empire had the best ships in the world. The people in Spain traveled through Asia, fought against the countries and made colonies. Then, they explored South and North America, and colonised more countries there. SLIDE 7 Juan: What is the relationship with the Philippines? SLIDE 8 Adam : The Spanish empire affected the Filipino a lot. Philippians eat tapas often because they were a colony of the Spanish empire and Spanish people came to the Philippines. SLIDE 9 Juan: What food do they eat in Spain?Filipino was a colony of Spain, but tapas is a Spanish food.From that we can see that Spain affected the Filipino empire a lot. And this picture is a food called Tapas. Adam and I will explain what chorizo­ is, basically it's a spicy sausage with some vegetable. Adam : And next we have a soup called Gazpacho. This is a cold soup that uses tomatoes and some other vegetables. Sometimes, they use water melons for tomatoes and they use melons for cucumbers. I can’t believe they put fruits in soup but Spanish people love it. This is a food called paeria, and it’s a fried rice with some sea food. And last, this is a massive paeria. They use this for festivals and events, I think it’s about 30 times bigger than this normal paeria. SLIDE 10 Adam : Tapas are a very important part in the traditional Spanish food. SLIDE 11 Juan : Tapas means the appetizers before the entree. There are many kinds of tapas, from cool cheese and olives, to the fried fish. SLIDE 12 Adam : Also, in the Philippines and other countries there is a kind of Spanish traditional dance which is called Flamenco. It is a popular dance in these countries. SLIDE 13 Juan : Flamenco is a dance which came from the South part of Spain, including songs, music and dance. Adam : The form of the Flamenco dance begin was influenced by the Jews, Moors and Gypsy people. Now, the Flamenco dance is the representatives of the Spanish dances. Juan : Flamenco dance have at least 50 kinds of music to dance. Every kind of music have it own rhythm. The Flamenco dance is a impromptu dance, which means it do not have a fixed movement. The whole dance is against the moodment interaction of the dancer, the singer, the accompaniment people and the audience. SLIDE 14 Juan : Thank you for watching and listening.
