Creating a Question Bank

A Question Bank is a database of questions that have a relationship to each other. They could be related
by topic, chapter, course, or even difficulty level. Quizzes can be created by pulling a specific number of
questions at random from a specific bank. Questions Banks can be used between courses and across
semesters. You can also move and copy questions between banks.
Bookmarking a Question Bank makes that bank available to your other courses without having to copy
the question bank into your course. A question bank that has been bookmarked will display at the end of
its title the bookmarking icon with a darker blue ribbon
.

Creating a Question Bank Steps___________________________________________________________

In your course, click on Quizzes.
Click Manage Question Banks (right side).
Click Add Question Bank (right side).
Enter the name of the question bank.
NOTE: if using the bank in more than one course, consider labeling the question bank with the
course ID and topic or chapter ( i.e. MLL-139-02 Chapter 1)
Press Return/Enter on the keyboard to display your question bank title.
To the right of your question bank title, you will see that it has automatically been bookmarked.
Click on the title of the question bank. You will see the question bank options (right side).
To add a question, click Add a Question (right side).
Choose the type of question and complete the question form. Remember to click Update
Question to save it.
Continue to add questions.
Bookmarking an existing Question Bank Steps_______________________________________________

In your course, click on Quizzes.
Click Manage Question Banks (right side).
Click the bookmark icon next to the question bank title, making the ribbon a darker blue.
Now when you click on the title of the question bank and open it, you will see a button that
displays Already Bookmarked (right side).
Notes________________________________________________________________________________
1. If inserting images into the question, you must create the question outside of the bank. Once created,
you will move this question from the ‘Unfiled Questions” into the desired question bank.
2. When selecting questions from a bank, you will select the bank and then choose how many questions
and how many points per question.
