THE PRESIDENT’S CORNER
I’d like to thank all the volunteers who participated at the President’s Day Clean-Up on May 8, 2010. We got an
awful lot accomplished on that day! All the rental spaces look great. You did a great job and no fines were given
this time. Please keep this up in the future, as it makes my work a lot easier. The next Clean Up date will be in
August, 2010, so watch for the date in future bulletins.
There are two new proposed By-Law changes brought forth by Ron Gunnar, so be sure to read them carefully,
and come down to vote on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. The general elections will begin at 6:30pm, and the Bar will
be closed during the elections as well as the meeting.

Jennifer M. Lee:
I was recently nominated to serve on the Board of Directors this election year. I gladly accepted the nomination for the
following reasons: I used to drink Shirley Temple's in the Clubhouse Bar, and now I serve them, I used to hunt Easter
Eggs here; and now I raise the money for them, I used to serve crab and pasta at the annual Crab Feed and now I sell
tickets for it. I have been a member of the Club; and have tended Bar for the last 5 years. I have been an avid shooter for
the last 3 years and have enjoyed being Match Director of the RRG's Annual Brogden Brother's Shoot (Coming up this
August!) I am the face and the voice of the Richmond Rod and Gun Club, Inc., and understand the history behind it. I
look forward to representing the voice of the Club, for the good of the Club. Mark your calendar and cast your vote!

and social clubs. I am a current member of the San Pablo Moose Club and Past President of S P Rotary. I'm a retired San
Pablo Police Department as a Senior Sergeant with 27+ years. I hope to bring to this Club a sense of United Fellowship
and a concerned effort to promote an active enticement of junior applications to continue the fulfillment of the Club

numbers. The future and advancement of Club and Social Activities are in our hands. Thank you

Proposed By-Law Amendments
SUMMARY AND JUSTIFICATION FOR PROPOSED AMMENDMENTS TO THE BY-LAWS OF THE
RICHMOND ROD & GUN CLUB, INC,
•
Add New Section under Article V- MEMBERS AND MEMBERSHIPS SECTION 13. CLUB
BULLETIN.
The Club bulletin may include electronic versions in addition to the printed form. Mailing may also include
electronic mailing. Written notification may also include electronic notification.
Justification for the proposed amendment:
The current By-Laws require certain notifications be posted in the monthly Club Bulletin, (The Sportsman) and
mailed to each member. The Club currently has approximately 1,500 members. The annual cost of printing,
postage and mailing services amounts to approximately $15,000.00 per year, or $10.00 per member per year.
We currently post the Bulletin on the Richmond Rod & Gun Club web site, which costs us approximately
$65.00 per year. By only sending the Bulletin via the USPS to those members who request it we could save a
substantial sum of money, which could be put to better use. A vast majority of members have access to the
internet and can view the Bulletin on line at any time. Corrections to the Bulletin can be made in a timely
manner on line, unlike the hard copy. There are six references in the By-Laws to the Bulletin in regards to
notifications that will be covered by the proposed amendment. Anyone who wants to receive a printed copy of
the Bulletin will continue to receive it. Additional copies will still be available at the bar and ranges. The exact
savings are unknown, but will be established once the members are polled regarding how they would like to
receive the Bulletin.

Add New Section under Article VII-BOARD OF DIRECTORS
SECTION 6. In the event that a quorum is not met at a Membership meeting the minutes of the previous
Board of Directors meeting shall be automatically approved.
Justification for the proposed change:
It is well established that attendance at membership meetings has been a problem over the years. Often it has
been necessary to have members who were engaged in other activities asked to attend just to meet the
requirements of a quorum. On other occasions we had to swear in new members in order to have a quorum so
that we could conduct the business affairs of the Club. There always exists the possibility that a quorum may
not be reached and therefore no meeting can take place. In such a situation the minutes of the previous Board
of Directors meeting cannot be approved and whatever action was taken can not be completed. Past history
tells us that any time there was a controversial matter, attendance at the meeting was not an issue. This
proposed addition to the By-Laws is simply to insure that business affairs of the Club will not be interrupted or
delayed due solely to lack of attendance.
Both of these amendments have been approved by the Board of
Directors and you are encouraged to approve them.
