SIMONS ISLAND - Mrs: Nell Hill Terras, M, died Tuesday at GlynnBrunswick Memorial Hospital after a short illness. The Stanford, Ky., native lived in Glynn County since 1922. She was graduated from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in 1922 and moved to Brunswick to head the Glynn County School System music department. She was active in local civic affairs. During World War II, she was president of Brunswick Hospital Auxiliary and a leader in the USO and Civil Defense organizations. In the 1950's, she was a leader in the movement to preserve the historical buildings and trees of the area. She was a Presbyterian. She was president of Daughters of the American Revolution, founder of the Mozart Society in Glynn County, past president of Cherokee Garden Club and member of Coastal Georgia Historical Society. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Torras Boynton of Atlanta; two sons, Joseph Hill Torras of Shelburne Falls, Mass., and Robert Miller Torras of St. Simons Island; 18 grandchildren, 12 greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
