You are now registered with ResNET. Additional Notes. Port Security: If you want to plug your computer into a different Ethernet jack, or want to plug a different computer or console into your Ethernet jack, you must wait 1-2 minutes after you remove your cable and plug another in. Changing the jack you are plugged into or the unit plugged into a jack very quickly emulates a type of network attack that can occur and will trigger the port security feature of our switches which will disable your jack. If this occurs simply call ResNET and our staff will gladly assist you by re-enabling your port. Virus Scanners: ResNET provides McAfee Enterprise (PC & Mac) free for all students residing in the residence halls. It is not required that you install this software, but an up-to-date virus scanner should be installed on all computers. Bundled with the software is McAfee’s Anti-Spyware plug-in, further enhancing the protection provided. This software can be downloaded at http://my.resnet.uww.edu/. Make sure that you only have one virus scanner installed at a time. Having multiple scanners does not increase protection; it will, however, often make your computer unstable or even unusable.
