Tennessee Transfer Pathways
Tennessee Transfer Pathways (TTPs) are advising tools designed to help students transfer from a TBR
Community College to complete their baccalaureate degree at ETSU. For a list of Tennessee Transfer
Pathways please visit http://www.tntransferpathway.org/campuses/east-tennessee-state-university
A student who completes the pre-major curricula listed on a particular Transfer Pathway will earn
an A.A. or A.S. degree at the community college. The student is guaranteed that the courses taken will
be accepted at ETSU and the courses will count toward completion of the particular major.

The East Tennessee State University Dual Admission Program is available to students transferring to
ETSU from select Tennessee community colleges. This program offers Tennessee community college
students the advantage of a structured approach for completion of an associate’s degree, followed
by enrollment in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree at ETSU. Dually admitted students first enroll at a
Tennessee Community College, complete the associate’s degree, (A.A., A.S. and A.S.T.) and then
enroll at ETSU. This program will ease the transfer process and foster students’ academic success. The
advantage of the dual admissions program is that students have direct contact with both Tennessee
community college and ETSU faculty and staff throughout the program. In addition, the dual
admission program provides enhanced advisement and transition support services.
What is an articulation agreement and how is it helpful?
ETSU has articulation agreements with several community colleges to make your transition to ETSU
as seamless as possible. An articulation agreement, sometimes called a transfer agreement, allows
you to transfer to ETSU after completing an associate’s degree at a participating Tennessee community
college by outlining which courses to take at both institutions. For more information, visit the Transfer
Articulation web site.
How can I find out whether my courses will transfer?
Course equivalencies are a way to show how the courses you have taken at another college or
university relate to the courses at ETSU. We offer a course equivalency table (www.etsu.edu -- then
click on “Goldlink” and see “Transfer Course Equivalencies” link) that spells out exactly how your
courses will transfer from your institution into ETSU.
Evaluation of Transfer Credit
www.etsu.edu
An analysis of your transfer credit can be reviewed once it is completed through GoldLink (ETSU’s
gateway to services). Instructions on accessing GoldLink will be outlined in your acceptance letter.
Apply early for financial aid! Complete the Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) at http://www.fafsa.gov as soon as possible after January
1 each year. Use the IRS Data Retrieval process on the FAFSA if you qualify
and/or order a Federal Tax Transcript from the IRS after your return has
been processed each year. Most importantly, don’t forget to follow up on
GoldLink or with the Office of Financial Aid http://www.etsu.edu/finaid.
