Boosting the latest technological advances, these generators offer continuous improvement of performances. Thales high-reliability brushless design allows optimized scheduled maintenance, decreasing the Direct Maintenance Costs (DMC). Thales DC Generator is a 3-stage brushless machine. The third stage is the electrical power source. It is energized by a 6-pole rotor, delivering rectified DC voltage (via a rectifier bridge) to the aircraft electrical network. Power rating up to 15 kW Nominal rotation speed up to 13,700 RPM Self-cooled Clockwise or counter clockwise rotation Via an ARINC 429 line, the DGCU sends all electrical data to the EICAS (Engine Indicating Crew-Alerting System) and to the maintenance system. Technical data Rated Power 12 / 15 kW Current 400 / 500 A Voltage 28 Vdc Speed range 5,500 / 13,200 RPM Altitude 10,700 / 13,700 m Max overload 5 seconds 200 % Cooling Air Weight 12 - 13, 4 kg Electrical standard MIL-STD-740 Environmental standard DO160 Generator Control unit (GCU) and Digital Generator Control Unit (DGCU) match the generator’s needs. Under normal conditions the GCU closes its excitation relay and the line contractor, so the DC power supplies the DC bus bar. The Digital Generator Control Unit (DGCU) maintains a constant generation output voltage and provides equal load distribution in a parallel generator system.
