UMM students see physicians and nursing staff, and receive medical treatment, routine lab tests, immunizations, and some prescription drugs at no additional cost. Students are also required to provide proof of health/hospitalization insurance or purchase an insurance plan. One in five UMM students are involved in Cougar Athletics, with athletes succeeding academically at rates above the student body as a whole.
