COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES POSITION: Assistant Professor of English (Global Anglophone Literature) Stetson University seeks a broadly trained teacher-scholar of Global Anglophone Literature for a full-time, nine-month tenure-track appointment as an assistant professor. In addition to the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate literature and writing classes, the successful candidate will have demonstrated interest and accomplishments in field, such as the literature of Atlantic worlds, literature from Africa and the African diaspora, Caribbean literature, or South Asian literature, and in interdisciplinary interests, such as peace studies, race and postcolonial studies, gender studies, or eco-criticism. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in literature; ABD candidates expecting to complete degree requirements by August 2016 will be considered. The ideal candidate will have active scholarly agenda and demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduates. RESPONSIBILITIES: The teaching load is 3/3. Teaching assignments will include 100-level and 200-level general-education English courses, in addition to upper-division classes in field. Other courses taught, depending on expertise, might include First-Year Seminars, Junior Seminars in the department, or cross-listed courses in minors such as Africana Studies, Gender Studies, or Asian Studies. The faculty member is also expected to mentor students academically and professionally. Candidates should demonstrate a passion for the highest quality of teaching, combined with the ability to produce rigorous peer-reviewed academic scholarship. Scholarly activity leading to publication in peerreviewed journals and service to the Department, the College of Arts and Sciences, the University, and the profession are required. The department also hosts a new low-residency M.F.A. in Literature of the Americas, taught off-campus. Our primary focus is undergraduate learning, in courses for the major and minor, General Education courses, and interdisciplinary courses.
