The COWG 2011 cadet encampment, scheduled for 7-18 June 2011 (7-9 Jun is PIPER and 10-18 Jun for basic cadets) is now accepting applications for cadet commander. 2. The following are the eligibility requirements: a. Be a C/Maj by December 2010. b. Attended 3 encampments: 2 as a staff member, 1 in COWG. c. Be available for a weekend in February-April for Cadet Encampment Staff Selection Activity (CESSnA). 3. All applicants will fill out a form COWGF 31, to include: a. An email address and phone number (cell phone if you have it) that will be valid through the end of encampment. This will be the primary source of communication. b. Must be signed by the applicant, a parent if under 18, and the unit commander. If from another wing, determine your local policies if you require wing and/or region commander signature. 4. All applicants must provide the following: a. Single page letter indicating why you are qualified and desire to be cadet commander. Use the personal letter format on pg 167 of Air Force Tongue and Quill (1 Aug 04). b. Single page resume of cadet career (accomplishments, positions held, CAP activities attended). Please use the sample resume attached to this memo. c. A vision statement and mission statement for the 2011 encampment. Please use the encampment letterhead attached to this memo and the official memorandum format on pgs 183-185 of Air Force Tongue and Quill (1 Aug 04). d. The above items should be uploaded to the staff application website no later than 15 December 2010. e. The above items should also be mailed and received by 15 December 2010 to: COWG Encampment P.O. Box 14171 Colorado Springs, CO 80914 f. Applicants will receive an e-mail upon receipt of a complete application. 5. All applicants will also complete the following online forms: a. All applications should prepare for the following in addition to the application packet: a. A phone interview will be conducted during the month of December. b. A possible request for additional documents (projects such as initial plans and outlines for goals), letters of recommendation or home squadron visits. c. The necessity of these will be determined upon receipt of the applications. d. Payment for the encampment will be made prior to CESSnA. Trained 10 cadets in the areas of leadership and aerospace, promoting 6 through at least 2 achievements. Flight Sergeant (January 2003-June 2003) Train and develop the 10 cadets in the flight in the areas of leadership and drill. ACTIVITY STAFF EXPERIENCE Cadet Commander, Air Show Manage seventy cadets and staff while performing requested duties such as security, crowd control and display information. Cadet Commander, Model Rocketry Successfully implement the Model Rocketry curriculum throughout the weekend ensuring the graduation of 15 cadets with a model rocketry badge. Deputy Cadet Commander, Basic Cadet School & Airman Training School Ensure that both schools were completed successfully during the same weekend, graduating 20 cadet from BCS and 15 cadets from ATS. Executive Officer, Staff Training School Ensure that the school had the necessary administrative and staff support to function properly. Flight Commander, Staff Training (Staff Honor Cadet) Responsible for the training, health, and well-being of the members of my flight, successfully graduating 12 cadets. Assistant Seminar Leader, Non-Commissioned Officers School Train 8 noncommissioned officers in basic leadership skills. Flight Commander, Encampment 2006 (Bravo Flight) Directly responsible for the training and well-being of 17 cadets throughout the week, successfully graduating all.
