University of California Consortium on Social Science and Law,
Funds for Intercampus Travel
The UC Consortium on Social Science and Law was created to facilitate multi-campus, multidisciplinary
research collaborations on topics related to social science and law, and to support research training for
graduate students, including law school students.
Funds are now available for intercampus travel for colloquia, research presentations, and the
development of research collaborations on important topics in social science and law.
Who can apply? UC faculty who are members of the Consortium on Social Science and Law. (For
information about becoming a Consortium member, contact Dr. Steven Clark, Director of the
Consortium at clark@ucr.edu, or the site lead for your campus (see contact information below).
Funding for: Up to $500 for travel expenses including airfare, train travel, meals, and driving mileage as
well as hotel accommodations. Although requests for travel funds can only be made by members of the
Consortium, the funds may be used for travel by any UC faculty member, postdoctoral scholar, or
graduate student.
Examples of how funds may be used:
Example 1. Professor X, who is a faculty member at UC Campus A and is a member of the Consortium,
may request funds so that Professor Y, a faculty member at UC Campus B, may travel to Campus A to
give a colloquium, even if Professor Y is not a member of the Consortium.
Example 2. Professor X from UC Campus A requests funds to visit Professor Y at UC Campus B, along
with a graduate student and a postdoc, to discuss common research interests and possibilities for
research collaboration. The total request would still be $500 to cover all three travelers.
