INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this booklet is to provide information on entrance and undergraduate awards available to deserving
post-secondary students in Saskatchewan.
Anyone interested in obtaining application forms, where the bulletin indicates they are needed, or in obtaining more
detailed information on any of the awards, is invited to approach the contact listed.
The following pages list Youth Awards offered by individual Masonic Lodges throughout the Province and through
various gifts and bequests administered by the Grand Lodge of Saskatchewan Board of Trustees.
The Freemasons, who are members of these Lodges, have dedicated major portions of their activities to assisting the
young people of Saskatchewan through these awards and other programs implemented in their communities.

Conditions: Offered annually to undergraduate students who have completed one or more years of University,
SIAST, or other post-secondary education. Students must be children or grandchildren of a Master
Mason in good standing, a resident of Saskatchewan and attending a University, SIAST or other post
secondary institution in Saskatchewan. Selection will be based on academic achievements, moral character, sportsmanship and leadership.
Must be registered for a full academic load for a full academic year as required by the institution chosen.

ROBINSON MEMORIAL BURSARY

Conditions: Offered annually for one undergraduate from the University of Saskatchewan and one undergraduate
from the University of Regina pursuing a course leading to an honours degree or a Master’s degree
in English, who demonstrates financial need, academic achievement, and leadership. (Recipients of
$1,000.00 or more in other scholarships are not eligible for this award.)
Must be registered for a full academic load for a full academic year as required by the institution chosen.
Winner must supply their SIN number for income tax purposes if notified.

Conditions: Offered annually to an undergraduate student who is a resident of Saskatchewan. Selection will be
based on demonstrated financial need, academic achievement, sportsmanship and leadership. One
scholarship to be awarded for the University of Saskatchewan and one for the University of Regina.
Must be registered for a full academic load for a full academic year as required by the institution chosen.
Winner must supply their SIN number for income tax purposes if notified.

learning (Technical, Vocational or University) anywhere in Canada. Selection is based upon academic
achievement, leadership skills, community and school activities, special awards and need.

Conditions: Offered annually to Saskatchewan high school graduates with preference to graduates who currently
are or were members of the International Order of Job’s Daughters or the Order of DeMolay and
who will be entering the University of Regina or the University of Saskatchewan. Selection will be based
upon academic achievement and a range of non-academic activities. One award for the University of
Saskatchewan and one for the University of Regina.
Must be registered for a full academic load for a full academic year as required by the institution chosen.

Conditions: Offered annually to a Saskatchewan High School graduate who proceeds to an institution of higher

The winner will be required to supply their Social Insurance Number which is required for income tax
purposes.

INDIAN HEAD LODGE NO. 5 CITIZENSHIP AWARD

Conditions: Restricted to local Grade 12 students. Selection criteria includes compassion, honesty, willingness to
cooperate with teachers and fellow students and all others. Award selected in consultation with the
school principal. Application forms are not required.

Conditions: Offered annually to any Grade 12 student who has attended James Hamblin School in Qu’Appelle. The
scholarship is awarded on the basis of marks, community involvement, extracurricular involvement at
the school level and personal qualities. Each student is asked to submit a letter stating his qualifications
for the scholarship.

MOOSOMIN LODGE NO. 7
James Mackie Thompson and Jessie Thompson Scholarship

Varies from $500 to $1,200 depending on the current interest rates.
Conditions: Offered annually to a Grade 12 graduating student from Rocanville High School pursuing post secondary education. The scholarship is to be awarded on the basis of marks, extracurricular involvement at
the school, community and church level, and personal qualities. Consideration may also be based on
demonstrated need.
Must present a receipt for payment of second semester tuition before receiving money. Must be used
within 12 months of the award or it is forfeited and not awarded to any other student.
Each applicant is to submit a letter stating her/his qualifications for the scholarship, together with a copy
of Grade 12 marks, and two letters of recommendation, one from a teacher and one other community
resident, or from two teachers.
Selection will be made by the incumbent Worshipful Master of Moosomin Lodge and members of the
Special Activities and Youth Committee.
Apply no later than August 15 of the year of high school graduation.

To one student from each of the following schools, Yorkton Regional High School, Sacred Heart High School (Yorkton)
and Melville Comprehensive School.
Conditions: Offered annually to a Grade 12 student (1 each from the 3 above mentioned schools) who will be pursuing post-secondary eduation at a technical, vocational or trade school. The scholarships are awarded
on the basis of good character, upstanding citizenship and respect for fellow students, teachers and the
community. The preference will be for the scholarship to be awarded to a student who has not recevied
any other bursaries.

BOSCURVIS-ALAMEDA LODGE NO. 27 CITIZENSHIP BURSARY

Conditions: This $200 Citizenship bursary will be presented annually to a grade twelve student of Oxbow Prairie
Horizons School.
The staff of O.P.H.S. will select the recipient based on the following criteria:
a) The recipient must have displayed good citizenship by involvement in activities intended to improve
his or her community. These activities must include fields beyond school life – i.e., community life.
b) The recipient must display a courteous attitude toward staff and fellow students.
c) The recipient need not be accepted at a post-secondary educational institution and academic
achievement will not be a consideration in the selection of the recipient.
d) No application is required for the award.

KING SOLOMON LODGE NO. 58 - Masonic Shield Award and Scholarship

The CODE OF ETHICS - MASONIC SHIELD with a $200 conditional scholarship.
Criteria:
K.C.I. CODE OF ETHICS
Method: The students of the graduating class take a secret ballot in the month preceding Awards Day for the
purpose of determining a recipient.
Condition: The recipient of the award must provide the Secretary-Treasurer of King Solomon Lodge No. 58 evidence
of having successfully completed a post-secondary course from any acceptable institution to receive the
scholarship.
Limitations: The recipient must be a registered student at Kamsack Comprehensive Institute, a member of the senior
graduating class.

Conditions: Open to students at Unity Composite High School, Macklin High School, McLurg High School in Wilkie,
Cutknife High School or Luseland, High School or Denzil High School who are pursuing post secondary
education.
Criteria A: To a student whose parents or grandparents are or were affiliated with any Masonic Lodge. Must submit
a written letter with family connections. If two or more students are eligible, the student with the highest average will receive the bursary.
Criteria B: If no masonic relation is eligible other students can apply. Would be awarded to a student who has not
won another bursary. Would be awarded to a student based on a written letter to the Unity-Meridian
Lodge No. 73.

For either A or B: Must present a receipt of payment of second semester tuition before receiving money.
Must be used within twelve months of the award or is forfeited and not awarded to any other student.

Conditions: To a student graduating from Cut Knife High School. There is a committee in Cut Knife that selects the
student. All students are eligible, criteria - must complete one semester of further education. The first
was awarded in 1996, the second in 1997.

Conditions: Awarded to the SRC Presidents-elect for the school year following the Youth Leadership Camp in August.
The bursary may be transferred to an SRC member-elect if the President cannot attend. Other students
entering Grades 10-12 in the fall are encouraged to attend the Leadership Camp, pay their own registration fee and apply for the Lodge sponsorship (approx. $250.00 for each student). Camp is limited to 40
students “first come, first served’.

Conditions: This scholarship, valued at $6,000.00 is paid over the fall and winter semesters of each year with the recipient receiving $3,000.00 during each semester. To receive the second payment, the recipient must pass
all courses and maintain a minimum 80% average during the fall semester. This scholarship is awarded
to a University of Regina student who is registered for full time studies (minimum of 12 credit hours),
entering the final year of study in a program leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Indian Fine
Arts, Theatre or Visual Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education or a Bachelor of Science with
a major in Biology, Chemistry or Computer Science. Must be a Saskatchewan High School graduate and
have maintained a minimum 80% average in all courses during the third university year of study to be
eligible. The recipient will not be eligible for any other scholarship during the term of this scholarship.

Conditions: Award #1 is offered annually to a Saskatchewan High School graduate entering their first year of postsecondary study. Award #2 is offered annually to a University or Technical School Undergraduate entering their 2nd or subsequent year of post-secondary study. Selection is based upon academic achievement, extra-cirricular activities and moral character. Candidates may receive a Robert Morrison Award
only once during their post-secondary career.
Candidates must be closely related to a current member of a Saskatchewan Eastern Star Chapter (dues
paying or life). Valid relationships include spouse, child, grandchild, sibling, niece or nephew (all biological, adopted or step), or be a member themselves. Applicants must be registered for a full academic load
for a full academic year.
