Bethany’s First Steps Childcare

care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years,
Monday – Friday 6:30am – 6:00pm.
Bethany’s First Steps promotes Christian values,
manners, morals, respect and caring in a nurturing

Raising a G-rated Family in an R-rated World - Sundays at 8:00, 9:15, 10:30am
As we celebrate special summer events with our families, our worship series at Bethany will focus on
the influences our children and families face from our modern culture. Specifically, we will talk about
how to “raise a G-rated family in an R-rated world.” Please make worship a priority as we use God’s
Word to address a very challenging subject for our children and families today.

fellowship hall to celebrate and honor Pastor Larry’s 40 years in ministry.

•Summer Sunday School begins today and will be offered at
both 9:15 and 10:30!
Wilderness Escape! During this summer’s Sunday School we
are going on a Wilderness Escape where we will learn straight
from a well-known Bible hero, Moses. We’ll discover
firsthand what is was like to live in the Israelite camp. Join
one of the Tribes of Israel for games, music, crafts and more!
All children will check in at the Wellness Center.

Holy Communion is celebrated the 2nd and
4th Sunday at all worship services.
For those desiring weekly communion,
a station is available in the Chapel
following each worship celebration on
Sunday. Allergen-free wafers are available.
●Lutheran Youth Serve Omaha
June 9-13 from 8:30am-noon: Join us for a week of service,
fellowship and fun! Each day, participants gather for breakfast, devotions, and music and then are sent out to participate
in a variety of age-appropriate service projects in the community. All the service teams will gather to celebrate and worship before heading home. Open to kids Kindergarten through
12th grades and their families. The Bethany bus will leave at
7:45am each day and return at 12:45.

Pastor Larry was ordained June 1974. He began his ministry at Faith Lutheran
Church in Oberlin, KS in 1974 and remained there until 1981. In 1981 he answered a call to come to Bethany Lutheran in Elkhorn. Pastor Larry served
here until 1998 when he accepted a call to Sheridan Lutheran in Lincoln. He
served in Lincoln until 2010 when he received the second call to Bethany. Pastor Larry has spent more than half his years as a pastor at Bethany.
Bethany Campus Landscape Maintenance
Do you love flowers, plants, and landscaping? Would you like to be a part of maintaining Bethany's outdoor
landscaped areas? Bethany is looking to start a Flower Garden Ministry. If you would be interested in
meeting twice a month to keep our property clean and beautiful by pulling weeds and trimming bushes and
plants, please contact Facilities Manager, Chad Witt at 402.289.2481 or chad.witt@bethanyelkhorn.org.
We also need a volunteer with knowledge and experience with plants and flowers to lead this ministry.
Mission and Outreach Ministry
 Open Door Mission Monthly Service Saturday This Week: Join us to serve lunch at the


Open Door Mission on June 7, from 11am – 1pm. We will meet at 10:15am at Bethany if you would like

Sack Hunger for Kids – Return food bags: If you picked up a food bag to fill for Sack Hunger for
Kids, a Bethany ministry providing food for local students, please return your filled bags to the church
office. We will continue to provide food for hungry students year round.
Life Care Center Serving Opportunity: Play Bingo with the folks at the Life Care Center in
Elkhorn. Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7:15-8:30. Families are welcome to volunteer together.

Expecting a baby? We have a gift for you! We also want to walk along side
you, pray for you, and offer support and resources every step of the way. We
care about you and your baby and believe in faith formation from the very

Men’s Fellowship Lunch
The men’s fellowship lunch gathers every first Friday of the month at Granite City Brewery near Westroads
Mall at 11:30am. Our next gathering is this Friday, June 6. Please join us for a time of food and fellowship.
