A. Students with fewer than 30 credits of transferable credits must submit high school records and SAT or ACT scores. B. 30 or more transferable credits, as determined by UMCP. 1. Cumulative GPA must be a minimum of 3.0. 2. Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended must be sent to UMCP Admissions Office. 3. The minimum grade for credits to transfer from Maryland community colleges is a D”. Admission to the University of Maryland is competitive and some majors are more competitive (See the Limited Enrollment Program listing below). For the Fall 2012 transfer class, they received 7,273 applications for a class of 2,993. The average college GPA for an admitted transfer student was 3.36. For the Spring 2013 transfer class, they received 3,253 applications for a class of 1,324. The average college GPA for an admitted transfer student was 3.26. APPLICATION DATES Students applying to UMCP for the fall semester should apply between September 1 and March 1. Students applying for the spring semester should apply between September 1 and November 1. GENERAL TRANSFER INFORMATION No more than 60 credits may be accepted for transfer credit from 2-year or community colleges. Consult ARTSYS and the Transfer Credit Center for course transferability information. To apply: Completed UMCP Undergraduate Admissions Application. Apply Online Send official transcript from each college or university attended. Transcripts should be mailed directly to UMCP from the registrar of each institution. Provide a list of courses in progress (if not included on the current school transcript). Send official high school transcript and SAT I or ACT results (for applicants with fewer than 30 college level credits). Attach the $65 nonrefundable application fee. Write an essay (for applicants wishing to be considered for academic scholarship). Send final transcript upon completion of many course work in progress. Many departments require that only courses in which a C grade or better may count toward satisfaction of major requirements. Consult the UMCP academic catalog under the major requirements.
