Communication and Culture

English for International Business: Communication
and Culture
Credits: 7,5 credits
Course Code: EN1043
Schedule: runs in the spring term - typically week 4-14
The course is divided into 3 modules, with a particular focus
on marketing.
Module 1. Oral Communication, 3 credits
A variety of oral skills exercises such as discussions with
particular regard to business, employment and social
situations, as well as presentation technique. Business
vocabulary will be built up via discussions, worksheets and
exercises, as well as by reading a novel or textbook in
English.
Module 2. Culture, 1,5 credits
Insight into the various aspects of ‘culture’; reflection on
how you view your own and other cultures in preparation
for employment abroad.
Module 3. Written Communication, 3 credits
Writing skills will be developed through a variety of
exercises such as reports, letter writing, etc. Attention will
be given to language style and to practical cultural aspects.
