2004-2005
Letter from the President and Director
Dear Friends,
This year has been an extraordinary one for us all as we
have watched our community’s dream become reality.
Excavation for our two-story addition began just at the
start of July 2004 and we were on the verge of a move
into those new quarters as the year ended in June 2005.
Watching the new Wilton Library grow from the needs
expressed in surveys and focus groups to architect Tai Soo
Kim’s penciled sketch on a napkin to the professionally
executed design and construction documents and model
to the spaces we were to occupy was thrilling.
But even as we watch the walls, windows, floors and doors
materialize, we realize anew that our excitement is less
for the spectacular building than it is for the exceptional
services, collections and programs that building will allow
us to deliver. Community input and support over the past
four years has enabled us to expand. Community input and
participation in the future will help us make the most of that
expansion’s promise. We will all reap the benefits of this new
center for discovery at the heart of our community for many
years to come.
