Current & Past Major DSI Activities cont’d
 US/D cross-cultural Integrated DAOF TA-Team Workshop
 ≥ 20 participants
 2 day event
 Monterey
 Schedule tbd.
 German Science Community Outreach

DAOF Access
Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy
 Hydrazine
 Unescorted hangar access requires hydrazine training
 Simplyfy Hydrazine training: similar to Satern training modules?
 Optimize Satern training
 Laura Fobel: Limit # modules to what’s required for foreigners (IT Security training)
 Escort
 Unescorted 24/7 access for PI Teams at DAOF
 PIV 1, PIV 2 (J. Zellmer)
 Escorted visitors access at DAOF(e.g., industry partners):
– Currently 3 DSI Escorts
– Expand # of DSI Escorts
 SOFIA Science Investigator Information for DAOF
 USRA-DAL-SSMOC-MOPS-PRO-0130
 To be augmented by German visitors specific information
 Flight Medical Examination
 For Germans at DLR

Focal Plane Imager
 Focal Plane Imager (FPI) sensitive for stars m ≤ 11.
Non-compliance with SOF-1011 Requirement „Tracking on m=16“.
 Discussion between DSI (J. Wolf et al.) and A. Meyer: Dark field
correction.
 Idea: Use vignetted corners of FPI for scaling und modeling of the dark
current pattern within the FOV of the uncooled chip.
 Possible gain ≥ 2 magnitudes guide star during Early Science.
 Modification of Software only. No hardware changes.
 Software-update by Kayser-Threde
 Effect of the dark field correction demonstrated at last weeks line-ops.
