Totally 10 Projects: Mythology
Score 2 (20 percent of final grade)
Construct a family tree of Greek gods, goddess, mortals, and creatures.
• Illustrate a poster showing corresponding Greek and Roman gods and
goddess.
• Present an adventure of a god, goddess, or creature through storytelling.

Score 4 (40 percent of final grade)
Make a chart comparing and contrasting a mythical character from another
culture to a Greek or Roman mythical character.
• Identify a contemporary superhero with characteristics of heroes from
mythology. Write a newspaper article describing how this hero has mythical
traits.

Score 60 (60 percent of final grade)
Script an original dialogue between two mythical characters. Include
accurate and complete information about their characteristics and
adventures.
• Design an illustrated mystery booklet of mythical characters called “Who
Am I?” Include adventures as well as personal and family details as clues.
• Create a rap, jungle, or song to help people remember the names of mythical
characters, their characteristics, and one of their adventures.

Create a mythical character for our 21st century. Write a character sketch to
identify your character’s personality, physical appearance, and powers.
Dramatize, do storytelling, make a video, or create an action comic book of
an original adventure. Include appropriate elements of mythological tales.

A Differentiating Instructional Strategy

Students choose activities at different levels of challenge and complexity.
Each task is given a score of 2, 4, 6, or 10. Students must select one project
or several that add up to a score of 10. The tasks differ in complexity as
follows.
Score 2
• Projects at knowledge, understanding, and/or application levels
• Accounts for 20 percent of final grade
Score 4
• Projects at application and/or analysis level
• Accounts for 40 percent of final grade
Score 6
• Projects at analysis, evaluation, and/or synthesis level
• Accounts for 60 percent of final grade
Score 10
• Projects at analysis, evaluation, and/or synthesis level
• Exhibits greater complexity, depth, or abstractness than Score 6 items
• A WOW projects that reflects rigor rather than simply more work
• Accounts for 100 percent of final grade
