Global Manufacturing Standard
Background
Reckitt Benckiser is committed to responsible business conduct amongst its suppliers and contractors
that meets or goes beyond applicable laws and regulations, respects the human rights of employees,
safeguards health & safety at work, protects the environment, and generally supports the contribution
of business to achieving sustainable development.
Policy
1. Policy, Application and Compliance
It is the policy of Reckitt Benckiser that all facilities involved in the manufacture, assembly and
distribution of products on behalf of Reckitt Benckiser Group companies shall:
• comply with applicable laws and regulations; and
• comply with the principles set out in this Global Manufacturing Standard (GMS).
This standard applies to all facilities that manufacture, assemble or distribute products on behalf of
Reckitt Benckiser Group companies, including both company owned / managed facilities and those
facilities owned / managed / operated by suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
Group / Regional Supply are responsible for distributing and monitoring this standard; Reckitt
Benckiser Group companies globally are responsible for applying it throughout their supply chain.
Operationally, it is the responsibility of each individual facility to comply with the principles set out
below in a manner that does not contravene applicable laws and regulations. Where subcontractors
are used to manufacture, assemble or distribute products on behalf of Reckitt Benckiser Group
companies, it is the responsibility of the contracting facility / company to make those subcontractors
aware of this standard and their responsibility to comply with it.
2. Global Manufacturing Principles
• No child labour. Limitation of work by young workers.
• No forced labour.
• A safe and healthy working environment.
• Freedom of association (or respect of parallel means where such activities are restricted
under law).
• No discrimination. Equal opportunities / rights.
• Reasonable terms and conditions of employment.
• Protection of the environment.
3. Implementation Guidelines
Detailed guidelines for the interpretation and implementation of the above Principles and this Global
Manufacturing Standard (GMS) are available from the Group Environmental and Health & Safety
Director.
