Estimated value $150
Minimum Bid Accepted at $75
About the artist: Judy has always loved creating art from an early age. After retiring as an educator in the Clarksville Montgomery
County School System, she finally had the time to devote to painting. Watercolor became her medium of choice, because of the
transparency and movement of colors. Judy enjoys attending classes and workshops to learn new and exciting ways to paint with
watercolors and in using a variety of materials to create texture. She is currently exploring the different ways of using mixed mediums in her paintings. Painting for Judy is always emotional and she hopes the viewer will also have an emotional connection to
her art. Judy is proud to say she is a member in the Downtown Artists Co-Op in Clarksville. The Downtown Artists Co-Op allows
her to network and paint with other local artists. She is also a member in the Tennessee Watercolor Society.
Judy also enjoys making jewelry. Making jewelry is like painting to Judy. She enjoys finding the right color combinations to use in
her jewelry. She uses a lot of natural stones and earth colors in her jewelry. Judy thinks that using a little bling by adding Swarovski crystals makes the jewelry exciting to wear.

Nashville, TN
About the artist: Tom Rice’s work that he possesses an intensely aesthetic appreciation of the natural world. The theme prevails in
most of his work, from his architecturally perfect shells to his highly stylized birds. He draws inspiration from other artists as well.
His decision to make gigantic shells out of slabs of stone came from a comment his college mentor and lifelong friend Olen Bryant
made after being gifted a real shell: “With beauty like this, why do we even bother?” Tom’s response was to make shells so big
people would have to stop and take notice.

Nada Fuqua
Tennessee Pond
Oil Painting
approx. 16 x 20
Estimated value $200
Minimum Bid Accepted at $100
Clarksville, TN
About the artist: Nada Fuqua has always thought of herself as a musician. She has degrees in music education and has taught all ages - Kindermusik through college and church choir. But oil painting has been a hobby for a long time. She has studied painting with Barbara Gardner,a local professional artist. Nada honed her skills at workshops in famous places with famous teachers - Albert Handell, Tony Ryder,
Dawn Whitelaw, Michael Shane Neal, Everett Raymond Kinstler. In March 2012 she participated in a weeklong workshop in portraiture under Joy Thomas. That April she was at Mitchell Tolle's drawing workshop in Berea. and in July 2012 she attended the workshop of his sister,
Dreama Tolle Perry, in Paris, Kentucky. In May 2013 she participated in Dawn Whitelaw's "Boot Camp".
Nada and her husband traveled in the fall of 2010 to New Mexico and Arizona. The trip gave her new colors, light, simple compositions, and
space. The sky can be ultramarine blue over a few red rocks touched with sunlight. The palette for Kentucky landscapes has a lot more
green. Learn something new every day at the easel is her motto.
Nada is a member of Portrait Society of America, Hopkinsville Art Guild, and Downtown Artists' Coop (Clarksville, TN).

Susan Bryant
Tellurian #2
Gelatin Silver Print from
Collodian Glass
approx. 12 x 19
Estimated value $700
Minimum Bid Accepted
at $350
Clarksville, TN
About the artist: I’ve come to love the home I share with my family, and it was natural for me to gravitate toward a technique that requires me to create images from what’s close at hand. In this body of work I mean to directly represent the essential nature of the things
and people in my domestic life, photographing them as meaningful objects and the eloquent bodies that engage them.
This work employs the 19th century wet-plate collodion process. Invented in 1851, this process produces a negative on glass from which
positive enlargements can be made. The process can also generate an ambrotype or a ferrotype (tintype), both positive one-of-a-kind
images. Because the plate must be exposed right after coating (while it is still wet) the process requires that a darkroom be near. While
many 19th century photographers made darkrooms out of tents or wagons, most worked in studios with an attached darkroom. This work
has lead me to an integration of the collodion process with analogue, darkroom enlarging, as well as digital technology. Some of the images in this proposed exhibit would be digital prints made from scanned glass negatives or tintypes. Some of the images are gelatin silver
prints made in the darkroom, and some are the direct positive ambrotypes and tintypes. I am especially interested in the kind of alchemy
that occurs as the 19th-century processes collide with 21st-century technology. This work simultaneously looks backwards and forwards
while describing the moment of exposure in the present. One of the many reasons I am drawn to this technique is that it requires me to
slow down, experiencing both the stillness required by the extended exposure time as well as anticipation of the singular, mysterious images
that result.

Dan Hanley
Macks Fruit Stand
Watercolor
approx. 18 x 20
framed
Clarksville, TN
LIVE AUCTION
About the Artist: Dan Hanley has steadily applied his creative abilities over many years as a designer and builder of homes and residential
communities. In recent years, he turned his full attention to his life-long interest in painting; an interest he has kept alive and active for
some 40-years since he graduated college with a degree in art & business administration. Before entering the design business, he taught
studio arts, humanities and theater craft. His open stage theater design work has been the subject of study in both the US and in England. His paintings and home designs have received several professional awards.
Born in Clarksville, Tennessee, Hanley lived what he calls a "Tom Sawyer" boyhood in his parent's home near the beautiful Cumberland
River. He often draws from this background for his subjects: "... a neighborhood of ordinary folks, unaware that they were living extraordinary lives, in extraordinary times __ unwittingly heroic in their struggles to provide for families and build a community; making themselves
matter".
Hanley's work is represented in many private and corporate collections. His originals have brought prices in excess of $20,000. While he is
presently working to expand his body of paintings, he is publishing some of his early works in high quality Giclée prints. He maintains a
studio in his hometown of Clarksville. Hanley serves on Clarksville's Public Arts Commission and works regularly in support of the Clarksville - Montgomery County Customs House & Museum. Following a devastating tornado that struck Clarksville in 1999, he served on the
Mayor's Recovery Task Force, chairing the Design Review Board and the Design Standards Development Committee.

Garden Bells
Acrylic
approx. 18 x 20
Estimated value $300
Minimum Bid Accepted at $150
Clarksville, TN
About the artist: Traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe has been an inspiration for much of my current work. Many
of the paintings and drawings are indicative of the people that I have met and the places that I have visited.
I make use of bold colors in my art to entice people to walk down a side street they would normally ignore, to visit a place, stay a while, and
enjoy the moment of being one with the art. I mainly use acrylic, oil, and graphite.
I have been recognized internationally, nationally, and locally for my works of art. My paintings have been published in several art magazines. Additionally, I have donated many pieces of art for charitable purposes.
My passion for drawing and painting was best expressed by Pablo Picasso when he said, "The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come
from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web."

Almond for Hope 2011
Collage/Mixed Media
approx. 20 x 24
LIVE AUCTION
About the artist: The old, retired, images and documents that I use, many from antique didactic texts, allow for the possibility of
meaning and metaphor in their peculiar beauty and often accidental æsthetic. In these images, diagrams, and maps, the world is represented as both sensible and miraculous, systematic and astonishing. These images were originally made to be clear and objective, a
rational distillation of a mechanical world; it turns out they are also rich in beauty and poetry. In many of these works my focus on
information graphics is combined with my interest in the ways that abstraction has been used to mediate the natural world
(especially in traditional botanical imagery used on textiles).
My work has been featured in many solo and group exhibitions, including solo shows at The Cumberland Gallery (Nashville, TN), Taylor/Bercier Fine Arts (New Orleans), Vanderbilt University, The University of Kentucky, Auburn University, Manifest Creative Research
and Drawing Center (Cincinnati, OH), The Tennessee Arts Commission, and the Gallerie Neue Raume (Berlin, Germany). I am represented in several permanent collections, including The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Kiwanis Club International, The Tennessee State Museum, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation, First Bank of Nashville, and The College of Notre Dame, Baltimore.

Cliff Whittaker
Queen Annes
Lace
Digital Photograph
approx. 20 x 18
Estimated value $550
Minimum Bid Accepted at $275
Clarksville, TN
About the artist: Cliff Whittaker is a photographic artist who specializes in mid-19th century-style impressionist images. He has studied
and been influenced by the French Impressionist works of artists such as Manet, Pissaro, Monet, Ronoir, Degas, Van Gogh and others of
that period. His work is often mistaken initially as oil on canvas painting.
Cliff has concentrated most of his current work in downtown Clarksville. He feels that this work is a celebration of the renaissance
of the downtown area and his impressionist style is more appropriate for that type of work. He says that it is more important to capture
emotion in an image that it is to capture the details of the scene.
His work involves every-day activities along Franklin Street and inside businesses such as Hodgepodge, Blondie’s, Front Page Deli
and Blackhorse Pub. Cliff says that his art is more like that of a contemporary historian in that his candid images show people and places
as they are in that instant. And, maybe some time in the future people will look back at those images and be reminded of their “ impression of the good ol’ days.”

Richard Hogan
Reclamation #3
Mixed Media
approx. 30 x 40
Estimated value $750
Minimum Bid Accepted at $375
Clarksville, TN
About the artist: Richard Hogan began painting in earnest shortly after he retired in 2001. He has a doctorate in Physiology and
Biophysics, and his professional life was in the scientific area, through research, teaching, and administration. His early paintings
were traditional and very linear in approach.
Due to a fortunate mistake a unique technique was developed using airbrush and spray and a series of acrylic glazes on natural
templates such as leaves, branches, weeds, and stems. Landscapes are the primary focus of his paintings reflective of boyhood
memories in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas. Jurors have described his works as ethereal, mystical, muted, and
“foggy.”
His experiences since retirement have been quite different from his scientific background; however, he feels there are no marked
differences in the philosophy and approach of art and science. At 73 years of age, he is developing yet another technique using
multiple layers of glazing coupled with heavily textured canvas, the results of which are very colorful and clearly abstract.

Larry Martin
Big Night Jazz Sextet… Base player gone to smoke and piano player in the bathroom
Acrylic
approx. 30 x 40
LIVE AUCTION
About the artist: Richly colored jazz paintings, bold and dynamic abstracts, cool and serene landscapes, peaceful and sometimes stormy
seascapes, sunrise. sunset, strange and odd combinations that pop! These are some of the varied subject matter that I present in oil, acrylic
and watercolor mediums.
Ever wonder what you'll do when you retire? Well, painting was probably not on my bucket list, but thanks to our daughter it has become
an important and rewarding part of my daily life. Following her tip about free chasses at State Universities in Tennessee for Seniors, I began
painting at age 65 and sold my first painting at a gallery for $1800.00! That was the beginning of my art career - the year was 2004 and my
age was 66. ----The band was playing 'Who'd-a-thought-it'.
Having been a never-gave-up-my-day-job musician, playing in bands and piano bars from Boston to Bangkok for most of my adult life, I was
initially drawn to Jazz renditions, and later got into abstracts, landscapes, seascapes and Florals. I say that painting is kind of like playing
bridge, another of my retirement pastimes - I became a Bronze Life Master in 2012. Each painting, like each bridge hand, is different and
you never play the same hand or paint the same painting twice. That's what keeps you coming back, the challenge of creation and the belief that it will be worth it. I hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoyed creating it! Larry Martin

Cumberland River
Oil Painting
approx. 72 x 408
Estimated value $1500
Minimum Bid Accepted at $750
Clarksville, TN
About the artist: I have been as artist for as long as I can remember. I am very drawn to the human form as my subject. I recognize in people God's crowning achievement. I love what makes us the same and am also intrigued by what makes us different – the imprint of variety
from the richness of design in our world. I also love portraying a moment in time or a special place.
My desires have also been to help women and children all over the world in humanitarian ways.
In the fall of 2007, a little studio was built in my back yard. I then plunged into my heart's work. Previously, my work area (the kitchen table)
was imperiled by peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and toddler vandalism.
These paintings are only the beginning of an exciting journey – one I'm sure that will take me down many different paths.

About the artist: “My work can be classified as narrative figurative portraiture. While I don’t like to tell the viewer what to take in from my
work, subtle symbols are used with every canvas story. I tend to work in suites, or series. The idea usually comes from a voyeuristic moment, personal experience, or my curiosities in how societies often repeat or mimic each other (often) unknowingly. I don't exhibit my work
as self-portraits, but they are based in the concept of capturing the world around me; as well as, within me. They are motivated by what it is
like to be a woman in contemporary culture and my interests in where we have come from - the cultural traditions that continue and morph
over time.”
Jordan’s figurative style is easily recognizable. The Agora Gallery in New York City has said “Terri’s paintings contain the best qualities of
both figurative and still life painting,” adding, “Much like Matisse’s women, Jordan’s figures are symbolic statements of serenity, beauty,
and ornament. More restful than Matisse’s women, however, Jordan explores a more understated realm of existence and privacy.” Her
narrative figurative paintings have been exhibited in group and solo shows throughout the country. In 2012, Terri was one of twenty-five
women artists selected to participate in the National juried exhibit, titled “Where Do We Go from Here? The Shape of Things to Come,” at
the RCC Wiseman Gallery in Grants Pass, Oregon; as well as having five works selected for the Small Packages juried exhibition at the
AnnMarie Art Center in Solomons, Maryland. She has won numerous awards for her paintings and is in collections from New York to California, Italy and England. She is represented by Mohsenin Gallery in Nashville and Xanadu Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Lynne Griffey
Forest Facets
Watercolor
approx. 6 x 8
Estimated value $222
Minimum Bid Accepted at $111
Clarksville, TN
About the art: The serenity of the forest provides a sense of harmony that nature graciously provides. If one is still the viewer of
Forest Facets can hear the sound of rustling leaves, the melodious singing of the birds and even the peace of one's heart.
About the artist: As a retired teacher, who once inspired her students to always do their best, Lynne Griffey feels the inspiration
to put her best into her art. Her subject matter includes local historic landmarks, landscapes, florals, birds and nature scenes. Because of her sense of community, numerous non-profits have benefitted from Lynne's art for fundraising.
Lynne's goal is to lovingly instill each piece with a sense of joy and serenity. If one looks closely, the viewer can locate an owl and a
heart which symbolizes the artist's philosophy. The vivid use of color and soft brushstrokes provide a refreshing contrast in her
watercolor and oil paintings. As far as her artistic style is concerned, Lynne says she has much to learn, but is enjoying the journey's expression.
