They will be exposed to detailed conference planning and organizing, as well as the staging and implementation of the conference. During the planning and organizing stage, students will learn about establishing the objectives for conferences, needs analysis, site selection, handling requests for proposals etc while the staging and implementation stage will teach them the procedures for staging conferences which include registration procedures, facilitation of catering requirements with F&B service providers, and the conduct of post-conference evaluation. BM0982 I Exhibitions Management [45 hours] This module provides insights to the key aspects of both exhibitions project management and operations. Students will learn the reasons why companies organise exhibitions, and how exhibitions management companies operate. At the exhibitions project management level, the topics covered include planning, market research, feasibility studies for recurrent shows, development of new shows, deriving timelines and budgets. The development of suitable programmes to complement the shows, execution of promotional strategies and the conduct of post exhibition evaluation will also be discussed. BM3035 I Economics [60 hours] This module provides students with an understanding of the basic principles of economics and the framework of economic reasoning as applied in business. [15 hours] This module aims to develop national cohesion, the instinct for survival and confidence in the future through six key messages on Singapore’s recent history as well as the present. It addresses issues on Singapore’s identity, uniqueness, constraints, successes and challenges. The module includes in-class and outside-class activities to inculcate desirable individual and social values and attitudes of good citizenship. This module equips students with basic knowledge on investments and personal financial planning. BMS310 I Fitness & Wellness [30 hours] The module formalises a fitness and wellness component for our graduating students, preparing them for the National Physical Fitness Award test and National Service. Harnessing high-agility and endurance-based sports techniques, students will be engaged in 30-hours of Cardio Endurance and Strength Training exercises as well as a battery of NAPFA-test components and mass workouts. In addition to improving their physical conditioning, the module includes three opportunities for students to attain a pass grade for their NAPFA test.
