Create a Comic Strip
Draw a comic strip based on The Odyssey--Book 5: Odysseus—
Nymph and Shipwreck to retell the story after you write a twoparagraph summary of Book Five. Your comic strip must have a
minimum of 8 frames.

Criteria:
 Plan (use planning sheet attached) and write a two-paragraph summary of Book 5: Odysseus—Nymph and
Shipwreck.
 Refer to your summary as you sketch/create your comic strip. Position a sheet of white printing paper
horizontally and draw eight boxes of equal size (You might need to make some larger and some smaller,
depending on what you will include in each). Decide what you will include in each frame. If you have difficulty
drawing the characters, you may draw stick figures. Make sure to give them some identifiable characteristics so
that the reader can tell them apart. Also, make sure that the sequence of events is clear and easy to follow.
Keep the illustrations and text as neat as possible. Then, color your comic strip.
 Give your comic strip a title. Write your name, the name of the book, and the author’s name on your project.
FYI: The planning sheet and the rubric should be printed and attached to your comic strip. Failure to attach either/both, will
result in a lower grade.
