2. Short exams – There will be DAILY quizzes during the quarter. Some quizzes will be at the beginning of

the class. The questions will be mainly CPA level questions on material currently being studied. The quizzes will be graded on how well you are staying current with the course material. Do not turn in quizzes for other students. Bring 3X5 cards for the quizzes.

3.

This is a challenging course. You should figure 8-10 hours of coursework per week outside of class. Class attendance is essential for success in the class. Most CPA’s agree that Intermediate Accounting courses are the

HARDEST in the accounting series. If you do well in this class you should do equally well on the CPA examination.

4.

Please make it a point to visit me during office hours. I am interested in you and your career plans.

5. The University Policy on Academic Integrity can be found at http://my.ucsc.edu

. This policy will be strictly followed in the class.

6. All homework and reading assignments should be completed on the day assigned and may be done on line or turned in at section. Homework will be posted on the web one week before the examination.

7. PARTICIPATE IN CLASS.

Questions are encouraged and could be rewarded with extra points. You should attend the weekly section meeting. Students find that attending the meetings provides them with addition clarification of the course material and is a good supplement to the lectures.

8. A sense of humor is required.

9. If you e-mail me, be sure to flag that you are a student. When phoning and leaving a voice mail – speak slowly.

10.

VERBAL COMMUNICATION - Beginning October 9th Toastmasters will meet Tuesday at Noon in

Engineering II-Room 499 or 599. If you take an active part in the program and attend at least five meetings you can earn up to five bonus points.
