MISSIONSTATEMENT
Foundedin1942,theEntertainmentIndustryFoundation(EIF)isamultifacetedorganizationthat
occupiesauniqueplaceintheworldofphilanthropy.Bymobilizingandleveragingthepowerful
voiceandcreativetalentsoftheentireentertainmentcommunity,aswellascultivatingthesupport
oforganizations(publicandprivate)andphilanthropistscommittedtosocialresponsibility,EIF
buildsawarenessandraisesfunds,developingandenhancingprogramsonthelocal,nationaland
globallevelthatfacilitatepositivesocialchange.TheFoundationalsosupportsandencouragesthe
philanthropiceffortsofallmembersoftheentertainmentcommunity.
2012PROGRAMS
StandUpToCancer
StandUpToCancer(SU2C)isaninitiativeofEIFthatraisesfundsto
acceleratethepaceofresearchtogetnewtherapiestopatientsquicklyand
savelivesnow.Establishedin2008,SU2Cutilizestheindustry’sresources
toengagethepublicinsupportinganew,collaborativemodelofcancer
research,andtoincreaseawarenessaboutprogressbeingmadeinthefight
againstthedisease.
Infouryearssinceitsinception,morethan$260millionhasbeenpledgedtoStandUpToCancer,largely
inconnectionwithabiennialtelevisedeventcarriedby26majornetworksandcableoutlets,and
availablein195countries.StandUpToCancerfundsmulti‐disciplinary,multi‐institutionalDreamTeams,
withnearly500scientistsacross87majorinstitutionscurrentlycollaboratingtodeveloppromisingnew
cancertreatmentsforpatientsatanacceleratedpace.
FundsareadministeredbySU2C’sscientificpartner,theAmericanAssociationforCancerResearch
(AACR),thelargestscientificorganizationintheworldfocusingoneveryaspectofhigh‐quality,
innovativecancerresearch.AACRworkswithaNobelLaureate‐ledScientificAdvisoryCommittee,
comprisedofworld‐classscientistsacrossseveraldisciplinesandpatientadvocatestoidentifythemost
promisingprojectstorecommendforfundingandprovideexpertreviewofresearchprogress.
EIFWomen’sCancerPrograms
ThroughitsWomen’sCancerPrograms(WCP),the
EntertainmentIndustryFoundationiscommittedtosaving
livesbyraisingawarenessabouttheimportanceofearly
detectionofbreastandreproductivecancers,providingfunds
toadvancetreatment,researchandearlydetectionmethods,
andsupportingcommunityprogramsthatassistwomenandtheirfamiliesatriskofcanceroraffectedby
it.WCPisfundedinpartbythefollowinginitiatives:
EIFRevlonRun/WalkforWomen
TheEIFRevlonRun/WalkforWomenwaslaunchedin1994throughthe
combinedeffortsofLillyTartikoff,RonaldO.Perelman,chairmanof
Revlon,Inc.,andEIF.Sinceinception,millionsofdollarsingrantshave
beenmadefromthecombinedeventsinNewYorkandLosAngeles.The
EIFRevlonRun/Walkeventsaretwoofthenation’slargestsingle‐day
fundraiserstosupportwomen’scancerresearchanddirectservice
programsinNewYorkCityandLosAngeles.ProceedsfromtheEIF
RevlonRun/Walksfundcutting‐edgeresearch,havecontributedtothedevelopmentofthebreakthrough
genetreatmentHerceptin®aswellasothertargetedtherapies,andbroughtnewandinnovative
treatmentapproachestowomen’scancersworldwide.Moniesraisedalsoassistnumerousorganizations
inprovidingeducation,advocacyandoutreachservicestothoseaffectedbywomen’scancers.

ThegoalofEntertainmentIndustryFoundation'sNationalWomen'sCancer
ResearchAlliance(NWCRA),co‐foundedwithLillyTartikoff,istoaccelerate
promisingresearchandincreasepatientaccesstosomeofthemost
significantclinicaltrialsinthenation.Toimproveoveralloutcomesof
patientswithbreastcancer,NWCRAresearchersarecommittedtothe
developmentofnewtreatmentsspecificallydesignedforeachsub‐typeof
breastcancer.Thereisalsoaresearcheffortinidentifyingtheunique
pathwaysdrivingbreastcancerinAfrican‐Americanwomen.Finally,thereisasignificantresearcheffort
intothemechanismsdrivingovariancancerandhowtotreatthisdiseasewithnewapproaches.

HonoraryChairsTomHanksandRitaWilsonandKateCapshaw
andStevenSpielberg,alongwithCo‐foundersKellyChapman
Meyer,MarionLaurie,AnneDouglas,QuinnEzralowandJamie
Tisch.TheyjoinedforceswithEIFtoaddresstheissueofcancer
andtheurgentneedtodevelopnewwaystotreatit,todetectitearly,andevenpreventit.Thegoalis
simple:tosavelivesbyraisingcriticalfundstohelpfasttrackmoreeffectiveapproachesfordiagnosing
women’scancers.ThroughtheWomen’sCancerResearchFund,thegrouphashelpedbringaboutan
excitingandambitiousscientificundertaking,EIF’sBreastCancerBiomarkerDiscoveryProject.Ledby
world‐classscientists,thegoalistodevelopabloodtestthatwilldiagnosebreastcancerintheearliest
stageswhenitcanbecured.

NationalColorectalCancerResearchAlliance
EIF’sNationalColorectalCancerResearchAlliance(NCCRA)is
dedicatedtotheeradicationofcolorectalcancerbypromoting
theimportanceofearlymedicalscreeningandfundingresearch
todevelopbettertests,treatments,andultimatelyacure.The
initiativewasco‐foundedinMarchof2000byKatieCouric,Lilly
Tartikoff,andEIF.
SomeresearchinstitutionsthathavereceivedfundingsincetheNCCRA’sinceptionincludethe
ArizonaStateUniversityFoundation,CaseWesternReserveUniversity‐HowardHughesMedical

EIF’sNCCRAalsosupportstheJayMonahanCenterforGastrointestinalHealthatNewYork‐

forindividualswhohaveorareatriskofdevelopinggastrointestinalcancers.

TheEntertainmentIndustryFoundation(EIF)mobilizedthe
entireentertainmentcommunityaroundaground‐breaking
initiativedesignedtoinspireaneweraofservice.Tolaunch
iParticipate,EIFenlistedthefourmajorbroadcastnetworks‐‐
ABC,CBS,FOXandNBC‐‐foranunprecedented,week‐longtelevisioneventinOctober2009.Theseand
othernetworksusedourfavoriteTVshowstoshineaspotlightonthepowerofservice,withmorethan
100programsparticipating,includingABC’sModernFamily,NBC’sParksandRecreation,CBS’sCSI:Miami
orFox’sSoYouThinkYouCanDance–allofwhichwereinfusedwithinspirationalvolunteermessages.
EIFalsoproducedaseriesofpublicserviceannouncementsthathighlightkeyareaswherevolunteersare
neededmostandalsocontinuestomaintainiParticipate.org,whichallowsvisitorstosearchforvolunteer
opportunitiesintheirlocalcommunities.
RiseandHonor
EIF’sRiseandHonorprogramlaunchedonVeteran’sDay11‐11‐11,as
EIFcollaboratedwithABCandtheEndemolUSAonaspecialtelevised
fundraisingevent:ExtremeMakeover:HomeEdition“RiseandHonor”
AVeteransDaySpecial.Theprogrambroughtawarenesstotheneeds
oftroopsreturningfromIraqandAfghanistantomorethan6.4million
viewers.Netproceedsofcloseto$1millionwenttosixwell‐respected
organizationsthatworkwithveteransandtheirfamilies,providingvitalservicessuchashousing,job
placement,healthcare,rehabilitationandmentalhealthtreatment.

on‐screensmoking.Thisprogramplacesanti‐smokingPSAsonDVDsofnewG,PGandPG‐13rated
movies.Todate,morethan100millionDVDsincludeananti‐smokingPSA.

PictureQuitting(PQ)isthefirst‐ever,state‐of‐the‐arttobaccocessation
programofferedbytheMotionPictureandTelevisionFund(MPTF);EIF
helpedstartitinconjunctionwithMotionPictureIndustryHealthPlan
(MPI).

TheEntertainmentIndustryFoundationhasprovidedfundsmanagement,programoversightandgeneral
