The Careers in Accounting and Management Professions (C.A.M.P.) program is an opportunity for underrepresented high school students to partake in a week-long experience to learn more about the field of accounting and other business related professions. Coordinated and operated by the Isenberg School of Management, the business school at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, the program is free to all participants. The program receives funding from the Massachusetts Society of CPAs and from Rich Gulman (UMass Grad ‘79) and Susan Gulman (UMass Grad ‘81)! Eligibility to Participate Only high school students who will be in their junior or senior year in the upcoming fall are eligible. Students from underrepresented populations are strongly encouraged to apply. The main objective of the program is to introduce minority students to the field of business at an early age. Students with strong academics, motivation, leadership and interest in business/accounting are given preference. When and Where will C.A.M.P. Take Place? The Summer C.A.M.P. takes place during the middle of the summer, July 24—July 29, 2011. Most activities occur on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Students will stay on campus. All meals will be provided by the Isenberg School. The program is designed to be challenging, fun, and engaging. There is no financial charge for participants, thus the program is free. Application due date is May 27, 2011. Activities at C.A.M.P. The program will include a diverse set of learning experiences, such as classroom lectures, experimental exercises, and visits to business organizations. Faculty from the Isenberg School will introduce students to the world of accounting and other business professions. Sessions regarding college admissions, resume building, exploring accounting forensics, taxes, auditing, and management will be provided. Students will compete in teams on a number of business related case studies and business plans. Finally, students will also partake in fun social activities throughout the week! C.A.M.P.
