C.A.M.P. Summer 2011!!!
The Careers in Accounting and Management Professions (C.A.M.P.) program is an opportunity
for underrepresented high school students to partake in a week-long experience to learn more
about the field of accounting and other business related professions. Coordinated and operated
by the Isenberg School of Management, the business school at the University of Massachusetts
Amherst, the program is free to all participants. The program receives funding from the
Massachusetts Society of CPAs and from Rich Gulman (UMass Grad ‘79) and Susan Gulman
(UMass Grad ‘81)!
Eligibility to Participate
Only high school students who will be in their junior or
senior year in the upcoming fall are eligible. Students
from underrepresented populations are strongly
encouraged to apply. The main objective of the
program is to introduce minority students to the field of
business at an early age. Students with strong
academics, motivation, leadership and interest in business/accounting are given preference.
When and Where will C.A.M.P. Take Place?
The Summer C.A.M.P. takes place during the middle of
the summer, July 24—July 29, 2011. Most activities
occur on the campus of the University of Massachusetts
Amherst. Students will stay on campus. All meals will
be provided by the Isenberg School. The program is
designed to be challenging, fun, and engaging. There is
no financial charge for participants, thus the program is
free. Application due date is May 27, 2011.
Activities at C.A.M.P.
The program will include a diverse set of learning experiences, such as classroom lectures, experimental exercises, and visits to business organizations. Faculty
from the Isenberg School will introduce students to the
world of accounting and other business professions.
Sessions regarding college admissions, resume building, exploring accounting forensics, taxes, auditing, and
management will be provided. Students will compete
in teams on a number of business related case studies
and business plans. Finally, students will also partake
in fun social activities throughout the week!
