CAREERS REPORT 2013
1. FACTS AND TRENDS
MASTER IN FINANCE: 2013 CAREERS REPORT
Although our Master in Finance students graduated during
challenging economic times, they managed to secure
positions in the finance industry on a global level, as reflected
in this 2013 Careers Report.
This is the result of our students being well equipped with
the necessary skills and know-how to successfully carry
out finance roles with maximum effectiveness, efficiency
and professionalism, as well as the ability to apply finance
functions to create corporate and social value.
The Master in Finance’s unique program characteristics,
such as a design that limits time away from the workplace
while providing a well rounded approach to the financial
world, and a focus on niche areas such as Islamic Finance or
Microfinance, have resulted in more than 92% of our students
finding employment within 3 months of graduation. Out of
this percentage, a substantial number of students accepted
jobs in Financial Services (80%), Consulting (10%) and other
industries (10%).
These excellent figures are achieved as we go beyond academic
excellence to include global networking, appealing final exam
options and the use of an eminently practical approach,
combined with an innovative learning methodology.
With regards to regions, the Master in Finance graduates are
based mostly in Europe (71%), with the rest being distributed
between Asia (13%), the Middle East (8%) and North America
(8%). This year we have also seen an increase in international
mobility to 31%
These recent graduates joined the community of more than
46,000 IE alumni who are based in more than 100 countries,
both in public and private sectors and all types of industries,
with the aim of creating value for their communities.
These outstanding employment figures were also achieved
as we are closely aligned to professional practice, given that
more than 90% of our world-class faculty are practitioners
working in top finance positions.
