We are very excited to have you here and would like to acquaint you with some information that will give you a great experience during your stay at UH Waterview Park. IN ORDER FOR KEYS TO BE RELEASED ON MOVE-IN DAY, THE FOLLOWING MUST BE COMPLETED: 1. Lease contract signed- Original lease must be signed to secure your housing assignment & in order for keys to be released 2. Proof of Enrollment- required in order to sign your lease contract. Acceptable forms include: • Printed copy of your UTD class schedule available at www.utdallas.edu/orion/. • Letter from your academic advisor verifying enrollment 3. All money paid• Acceptable forms of payment are check, money order or credit card (transaction fee applies) • Payments can be made in person on move-in day, online at https://www.ocius.net/ResidentConnect/1101/index.htm, or mailed to the Information Center. 4. Proof of Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination• Per Texas House Bill 4189, all students who have applied for on-campus housing and have been approved to reside in an on-campus student housing facility for the first time must show evidence of vaccination against bacterial meningitis. The student must have received the vaccination at least 10 days prior to the student taking up residence in on-campus housing. The form can be obtained on the UH website at: www.universityhouse.com/WaterviewPark/announcements.asp. 5. Electricity account confirmation• Residents will be responsible for electricity beginning on the start date of the lease contract. • If you have roommates, please contact them prior to setting up the electricity to decide who will have the account in their name. • Contact Reliant Energy at 1-866-735-4268 or www.reliant.com/move to set up the service. • The confirmation or account number must be given to the office by all lease holders prior to keys being released. GENERAL INFORMATION: 1. MOVE-IN CONDITION FORM: On move-in day, you will be receiving a Move-In Condition Form with along with copies of your lease paperwork. Please note that the purpose of the Move-In Condition Form is to note any pre-existing in the apartment home. We will review your Move-In Condition Form and place service request for items related to the following: broken appliances, water intrusion, and/or security related issues. For any other service items, please contact the Information Center to report any service requests that require attention. We will respond to those items within 2 business days, Monday-Friday. This form is due back at the Information Center within 24 hours. 2. MAIL: Your new address is noted on your lease contract in Paragraph 1. 3. PACKAGES/DELIVERIES: We will sign for packages delivered from UPS, FedEx and DHL if you are not home. The carrier should leave a note on your door to inform you the package is at the Information Center. In order to pick up your package, you will need to bring a valid photo ID. Packages cannot be released to anyone other than the person it is addressed to. We cannot accept oversized packages or those from the US Postal Service. Please pick up your package(s) within 3 days of the delivery or they will be returned to sender. 4. UTILITIES: o Electricity: Contact Reliant Energy at 1-866-735-4268 or www.reliant.com/move to set up your new account. You will be required to provide us with your account number. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ELECTRICITY MUST ALWAYS BE IN A LEASEHOLDER’S NAME. o Water: Beginning Fall 2009, water will be billed back to the residents of UH Waterview Park. It will be a maximum fee of $15/person/month. o Internet: Wireless Internet is provided by UH Waterview Park and is accessible in the apartments. There is a $15/month technology fee for this service. o Cable: Cable is not turned on in the apartment home; however, the apartment is cable ready with internal wiring and jacks. Cable TV can be set up at your expense through TimeWarner Cable – 972-445-5555. o Phone: You are not required to set up a phone line; however, the apartment is phone ready and does have internal wiring and jacks. AT&T is the local telephone company – 1-888-827-5722. 5. RENT: Rent is due on or before the 1st of the month and considered late on the 2nd. LATE FEES WILL APPLY; SEE LEASE FOR DETAILS. A rental drop box located at the south end of the building (to the right of the entrance) is available for use outside of business hours. Each payment must have the resident name and apartment number. NO CASH OR POSTDATED PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. 6. KEYS: You will be issued two keys: a front entry door key and a mailbox key. If the keys need to be replaced or are not returned when moving out, you will be assessed a $5.00 charge for each key not returned. 7. LOCKOUTS: During normal business hours, we will be happy to let you in to your apartment. We can release keys to leaseholders only and MUST verify with a valid photo ID. If you are locked out after normal Information Center hours, you can call the Information Center and a technician will be paged out to unlock your apartment. A $25.00 charge will be charged to your account. It is $75.00 to change your locks. 8. EMERGENCY SERVICE: During normal business hours, call the Information Center at 972-454-5000 or email service@waterviewparkapts.com to report a routine service request. After Information Center hours, call the Information Center number to speak with our 24-hour answering service. The on-call maintenance technician will be paged to respond to the emergency. If you have a fire, police or medical emergency, please CALL 911. 9. PARKING: In order to park at UH at Waterview Park, UTD requires each resident to obtain a parking decal. The parking decals can be purchased at the Bursar’s Office. You will be required to show a copy of your lease contract as proof of residency. The UTD Police will ticket vehicles without parking decals. PEST CONTROL: Terminix Pest Control provides complimentary pest control services in addition to mandatory building treatments. You will have to empty cabinets, drawers, etc. Please inform the Information Center with any recurring pest problems experienced in your apartment as we will have Terminix Pest Control treat your apartment. 11. UTD POLICE DEPARTMENT: If you have an emergency, please CALL 911. The UTD Police Department patrols the campus and apartment community 24/7. Please contact them should you need assistance at 972-883-2331. Code Blue Emergency phones are located throughout the apartment community. In the event of an emergency, these phones can be used to connect directly to the UTD Police Department for assistance. 12. PETS: Approved pets include dogs, cats and fish. Residents may maintain a maximum of two pets per apartment. Dogs & cats must be at least 1 year old. Fish tanks (limited to 20 gallons) are permitted throughout. Prior to bringing a pet on property, you must: 1) complete a Pet Addendum at the Information Center with all roommate(s) signatures & 2) pay a non-refundable pet fee of $200/pet.
