Visual Flow Sheet (VFS)
Visual Flow Sheet is an overlay to Meditech’s PCI application to provide users the ability to
view Meditech PCI data in a windows based clinical flowsheet format. It is also interactive
by allowing real-time documentation of nursing interventions and medications in one step.
Log into Meditech PCI. VFS is an option on the Table of Contents.
Right arrow or double click on Visual Flowsheet.
VFS is based on an Account Number/Facility so a Facility must be entered. The intent at
this time is to be encounter specific knowing that the entire patient record is available in
PCI as usual. VFS is an enhancement to PCI in response to concerns by physicians that
the Electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR) was more difficult to visualize
once Affinity went live with eMAR/Bedside Medication Verification (BMV) and paper
documentation was no longer being utilized. If the patient has had visits at various facilities
within Affinity you will be prompted to fill in the facility. You can use the F9 (Function 9)
key to view available facilities or enter the appropriate code directly in the box.
1
A box will pop up that indicates the system is generating the Visual Flowsheet:
The patient identifying information is listed at the top consisting of the patient’s name,
Account Number, Unit Number, Age, Date of Birth, Gender and Location.
User buttons allow Affinity to customize the flowsheet to link to routines for greater
efficiency.
The first button on the left initiates Print.

current data)
Worksheet Tab descriptions follow:
Alerts – Predetermined sets of clinical values that are defined outside the normal range
either high or low to alert providers.
Snapshot – Certain data to provide a quick overall picture of the health of the patient.
EMAR – Electronic Medication Administration Record is a visual record of the medications
a patient is on in the hospital. It can be expanded and collapsed for ease of viewing and is
displayed active, one time, scheduled, PRN, Discontinued, Unverified. The current view is
4 days with the date and time range displaying on the top. If SCHED is in red, then the
medication is overdue and has not been documented yet. By hovering over a field with the
mouse available data will display and by double clicking on a field the full order will display.
8
Full Order – EMAR
Face Sheet – To provide some basic patient data for the provider from the VFS.
9
VS/WT/%Eaten – To display computerized documentation
There are additional Worksheet Tabs created with criteria based on input from various
provider groups during development. There will be ongoing changes over time. If data is
captured in Meditech, it is probable that we could capture it in the VFS, if we chose to.
Some of the additional tabs:
 Antibiotics Labs/Meds
 Labs By MR#
 Pain Mgt
 Diabetic Mgt
 Labs
