Program Overview
The Master in Business Administration with a concentration in Global Business and Strategy
(MBA-GBS) is a double degree MBA program jointly offered by the Graduate School of
Business Administration and Leadership (EGADE) at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus
Monterrey, and the Belk College of Business (Belk College) at the University of North Carolina
at Charlotte.
The MBA-GBS was created to give a new direction to students’ careers by providing them with
the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in a global business environment. The program
seeks to develop executives for leadership positions capable of defining business strategies and
guidelines in order to create a sustainable competitive advantage within their organizations.
The MBA-GBS is an international program that provides a multicultural setting where students
can build international relationships while they prepare for business success around the world.
Distintictive characteristics
To be part of this international program, students must be admitted by both Tecnologico de
Monterrey, Monterrey Campus and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Upon
completion of the program, students obtain two MBA degrees: “Maestría en Administración y
Dirección de Empresas” from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Monterrey, and “Master in
Business Administration” from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Additionally, they
receive a certificate in Global Business and Strategy, jointly issued by EGADE and the Belk
College of Business.
The diverse academic and cultural background of the student body creates the ideal
environment for interaction, open discussion and mutual enrichment of leadership and
management skills required in global organizations. The “lockstep” schedule of the courses
fosters the creation of deep bonds among the students, creating a solid international contact
network.
The cornerstone of the MBA-GBS program is its faculty. Professors from EGADE Monterrey
and The Belk College of Business have real-world business and consulting experience in more
than 28 countries and all hold doctoral degrees from world-class universities. Through applied
research, the faculty has made significant intelectual contributions to business, government and
the academic community.
The program is completely taught at Monterrey, N.L., Mexico, one of the most multifaceted cities
of Latin America, allowing a multicultural setting where students can build international
relationships, while they prepare for business success around the world. Monterrey has been
ranked by Fortune Magazine among the best places in Latin America to do business.
They also have the opportunity to attend UNCC for one academic term. Charlotte, NC, is the
second largest financial center of the U.S.
